Where does our soul go when we sleep? what is the difference between kaafir and munafiq? isnt a munafiq a kaafir sorta?
If you read first 17 ayats of Surah Bakrah you'll have very clear understanding of these two terms.
kafir is someone who rejects the truth and have no desire to adopt the right path (surah bakrah, ayat 6 without including Bismilah)

whereas munafiq is someone with two faces... meaning he says one thing when he is with you and totally other thing with someone else or behind ur back...
it is beautifully described in Surah Bakrah who munafakeens are:
