from books, or from the history of nations (economics, family, politics, education, writing, medicine, law, business, and religion areas)
, which female hero has inspired u the most and why?
mine:
Prophetess Mariam
Fatima Jinnah
Asma Jahangir
Dr. Riffat Hasan
Perveen Shakir
and Mary Midgley
there did not exist any prophetess with such a name as far as i know…
if u meant Mariam, mother of Isa (as), then its a shame that u put her on top of the list of women who inspired u and yet dont know the fundamental fact that she was not a prophetess…
Allah has never appointed a woman to serve the purpose of prophethood…
as says Quran: And We sent not (as Our messengers) before thee other than men
this is in verses 12:109, 16:43, 21:7…
Hazrat Khatija (ra)
Hazrat Aisha (ra)- since ive heard/read more about her, i try to follow her more.
hadiqa kiani ( not anymore actually, but i still like her voice hehe)
jessica beil
vaneeza ahmed
some of my teachers
serena williams
tasmeena hussain
Dush, your and armughal’s discussion has made me laugh so hard, soooooooo hard… I have regained my energies to sit and study in 2 minutes.
BTW, armughal is right. Simply giving birth is not the way anyone would ever become a prophetes. That way, the mothers of all Prophets (PBU them) were to be prophetesses automatically.
awesome. this is amazing. u gave me a womans' name i was not aware of - dr. hamlin.
yes, Shireen Ebadi is a notable name.
So, is Dr. Azizah Alhibri from Lebanon, the only female Muslim esquire who knows Fiqh completely, at the present time. her org's website is www.karamah.org
best!
Dushi
Hazrat Khadija because she stuck by her husband through thick and thin, even when she could have easily dismissed his revelations as being crazy talk.
Hazrat Mariam for her courage in facing the world as an unwed mother.
Mukhtaran Mai for her courage to speak up and survive her rape.
Asma Jahangir and Hina Jilani for standing up for women's rights in Pakistan.
Dr. Catherine Hamlin for helping the women and girls of Ethiopia by opening the Fistula Hospital there.
Shireen Ebadi for being the first Muslim woman to win a Nobel Prize.
She was the one who influenced me the most at that tender young age. She was a very friendly, motherly type of lady. Always treated us like her own kids, to the extent that I used to tell her my problems at home and she always calmed me down . It was her that developed self confidence in me and also introduced me to the library and children’s literature and I developed an addiction for Hardy Boys & Enid Blyton.
Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn were my heros at that time
I used to see her once in a while, till I was in College.
The last I saw her was about 15 years ago- she moved with her family to the USA. Someday I hope to see her again and thank her for everything she did
this is so nice that u respect and remember ur grade teacher in such a revered manner.
it is so nice to have a mentor who u can confide in or ask for advice and professors or teachers are impartial, so they can at times, give very good advice to their students as their mentees.
