‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

if they can declare a fatwa against meera for a kissing scene in an indian movie, i dont think it wud be difficult to imagine them watching sania.... :p

personally i think its stupid for any mullah to pass out fatwas naming one particular individual for an act that is so common....

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

ditto,

Like someone said, these fatwas nothing more than hot air, usually given out in a bid to get some attention.

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

Doesn't Islamic scholarship have issues like violence, suicide bombing of innocents, poverty, injustice that they are preoccupied about short or long clothes of a girl who brings athletic credit and glory to India and the Muslims."

The very fact that Sania is out there playing suggests that she has the correct perspective on history; from the time of the first organised human societies, residual notions have sought to make targets of select individuals and events to attempt continued survival in the face of the knowledge that they are on the way out."

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

Frankly speaking, I did not know that our pretty Sania is a Muslim.....only after this Fatwa funda, I came to know about her religion.

Whatever these idiots cry...we love our little Sania.

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

anjjan..i thought u were pretty sensible person on this board...if our religion doesnt allow this kinda dress then what is it so hard for you to understand? to you it might not be a big deal but learn to respect other religions

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

^ does your religion say you cannot wear shorts while playing tennis? it's just a bunch of mullas trying to play God. Or do you sinerely believe God will discriminate against women?

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

You have used the word 'discriminate' quite a few times. What do you know about Islam? Do you even know why women 'choose' to cover themselves. If not, then you are better off not passing any such comments.

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

oh stop with the innocent 'do you know islam' crap already...from the looks of things here, I probably know more about islam and God than most of you put together.

when you find a hadith about why men shaving is ok then come back.

What do you mean women 'choose' to? what did Sania choose to do?

Just pipe down and watch the tennis

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

Islam is a choice idiot! nobody is forcing her.
I don't see why you have a problem with what mullah said.

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

it is between her and God. for this clamor for individuals having a direct hotline to allah mian, why is it that choice is not answerable to him only… She can represent islam and still play in a skirt. Let god deal with her… All these fatwas and stuff are silly concepts. It is all about interpretation at the time, there is a bit of tussle between modernity and rigidity of religion, Modernity always wins…In 10 years, someone will write a fatwa that it is ok to wear the same outfit if you are muslim as long as you ar eonly playing tennis. This has happened so many times in Islam before that these absolutes are comical. be it art, finance, governance…what have you. You can always retrofit the hadith or sura to make it relevant to topical conditions.

in the 1700’s if you sat for a portrait, drew a pciture of an animal or your wife, you could be killed per quranic interpretation at that time… now you see Image II on gupshup… :hehe:

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

Urgh. Like I said. Why has no one passed a fatwa on pervs who watch women's sports?

Fine. I'LL do it!

Maulani PCG declares a fatwa on all men and boys (mostly boys) who watch women's sports (on television, in person, on dvd's and vcd's).

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

^
and what is the fatwa????

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

LEAVE THAT GIRL ALONE GOD DARNIT ! yall bunch of pervs are just jealous ..... who cares if she plays wearing shorts .. is it worse then a GUL RAISED ON HARAM MONEY ? cmon .. u all know how many muslims sell SHERAB, PORK ..

ya'll are just trying to put her down because ur OWN FAMILY WOMEN are getting hyped up .. and the potiential to do something is rising up .. no ?

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

Armughal - :hehe:

Fatwa kia hai ?

Mulani ji ko fatwa ka meaning hi nahi pata :smack: also add internet, university gymnasium etc

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

This is what Sania said in an interview sometime back to an Indian channel(not verbatim though): 'I know what I have to wear when I play tennis is not what Islam approves of. But I know that I am not wearing the tennis dress to attract men or lead them astray. As I have no unnoble objectives, I hope Allah will forgive me'

Leave the poor girl alone. It is between Allah and her. Some urdu newspapers in India did not publish her action photographs or printed only a mugshot while others did.

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

It is just plain and simple..These so called hyper jehadis dont have the basic tenets of decency. If they can keep their hands on their heart and proclaim that they have not done anything unIslamic, then let them crow about Sania. They are just plain and jealous that a muslim girl in India has the oppourtunities to grow while the counterparts in Pak have no rights.

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

true i wish girls in Pakistan could do what she is doing.

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

I bet you if she was wearing skin tight pants (ones worn by bicyclists) all the way to her toes, all these fatwa issuers would have been fine. But isn't wearing skin tight clothes, showing hair, and wearing half sleeves also not acceptable according to 'their' interpretation? So, why just start when some skin on the legs is shown? are they chosing and picking parts?

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

so what happens if they issue a fatwa against her?....does that mean she is an open target to be stoned, killed? or that it is ok for anyone to insult her? or force her to stop playing....i dont get it...what will happen to her as a result of fatwa?

Re: ‘Fatwa’ against Sania, woman tennis star

There are, Pakistan is not a mountain or desert.
