HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI: After attacking Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasrin here on Thursday, the Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) on Friday threatened today to implement a “fatwa” of death sentence against her even as Vice President-elect Hamid Ansari led Muslim intellectuals in flaying the assault on Nasreen.
“There is a fatwa against her and the fatwa is one and all for the entire Muslim world, whether it is Salman Rushdie or Taslima Nasrin,” MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi said.
This time life of a woman Bangladeshi writer is under threat.
Want to know (the verses) where it is written in Quran that a Muslim can kill any person accused for defaming Islam and the Prophet?
I am not aware of any verse in Quran telling us to kill who who defames Islam/Prophet/Allah, I know one verse which tells us there is no compulsion in religion. Such "fatwas" are driven by "ghairat", "self-respect" etc. IMO.

On serious note, not somone, but if the ijmaa of ulema is there then the Fatwa is religion. I dont have any opinion about the current fatwa though as I did not read Taslima Nasreen’s work
Fatwa is a religious decree. Like for example, the religious scholars in 11th Century issued a Fatwa to re-take Jerusalem from the Crusaders, thats a logical Fatwa.
Basically, just like the American Senate or any other political body makes a decision and if it passes by a majority then the President has no choice to abide by it. Thats basically what a Fatwa is.
Now days, every Imam is issuing Fatwas. Thats not right.
Akbaruddin Owaisi, son of Salahuddin Oawisi, the sitting MLA of MIM party in Hyderabad is basically a nonsense guy. He again threatened Tasleema that he would kill her with pucca plan if she would ever dare to go Hyderabad again.
i dunno i find this fatwa business dodgy, i don't think humans have the right to give permission to kill others in the name of religion, that is only up 2 allah!

AS per my Info, Fatwa can be issued by the centralized Committe of Scholars and not by every Tom and Harry. Once Issued it is Govt.'s ( if Islamic/Muslim) responsibility to implement it, again not any Tom and Harry.

Fatwas are only valid if there is an Ijmaa of scholars on it. Fatwa does not become valid just because one person announces that.
Nasreen's own fatwa is not going to be valid until she has other scholars agreed with her
My Urdu/Hindi is not very strong. Can you please explain what "half kafiron ko marde" means? Does it mean "Kill the Half Kafir"?? Yeah if you do that you would be the true Slave of Allah according to some people. But aren't you supposed to kill all the Full Kafirs? Can you please spare half my life?
