I would never trust an animal over my own gut. Plenty of families have pets that only like one person. A dog/cat could hate someone for any number of reasons.

^There aren't many ppl with dogs on here.. If trusting my dog is such a big deal for you that's your problem, not mine.. Some of you need to get out more and see the world.. there actually is one outside your family in Pakistan, you know..
Dogs have a sixth sense that people don't have.. They have amazing instinct and that's part of what makes them so good at doing jobs like helping the blind or disabled (as well as the obvious ease of training them).. They're very good at differentiating between who they can and can't trust, probably better than me or even my parents.. Again, it's not something that people who don't have dogs would understand..
No, I don't have a dog yet. And yes I believe animals have a sixth sense, probably also due to much better developed senses than humans.
But people also (can) have something such as experience, intuition, gut feeling, , instinct, human knowledge, whatever name you want to gine to it.
Why is it still dog > human/parent ?
Btw, that would be pretty offensive to me if my child would take advice from the dog over me.

If they were that bad I doubt they'd be used for social and police work..

I guess we differ on "hate", that's probably the wrong word. More like levels of "like". I've never truly seen a dog go nuts on a person but I've definitely seen dogs that prefer certain people, and that's what my comment was about: I wouldn't reject someone if my dog didn't like a certain prospect as much as they liked another one.
