Of late it has become par for the course to beat up on Saudi philes. There are some really decent posters here who respect the Saudi establishment. And defend it from time to tims. Maybe they are entitled to that POV and don’t deserve the bemused replies (to put it mildly) that come their way. Here are some reasons they may have to be supportive of Saudia:
Helps other neighboring countries
Offers employment
No crime
Conservative attire
Religious environment
Place of worship
Good personal experience
8)Genuine gratitude for the path to prosperity that Saudia offers and offered
All of this could also be mixed in with that fact those who are supportive may have ties to relatives and family in Saudia. May want to go on pilgrimage there. May want to visit family there. So some caution is also understandable and advised.
Maybe the critics need to take a chill pill that was offered to Jijaji in KKKG.

Maybe they are entitled to that POV and don't deserve the bemused replies (to put it mildly) that come their way. Here are some reasons they may have to be supportive of Saudia:
1) Helps other neighboring countries
*For political gains, not out of goodness of heart. *
2) Offers employment
**Read 'slavery' for non-white skinned people. **Had there been no oil or western oil extraction companies, forget about employment.
3) No crime
*Inside their borders. *
4) Conservative attire
I give you this one. Wonder why is it important though.
5) Religious environment
*Really? The Saudi regime is one of the most un-Islamic regimes around. Praying to God is not 'religion'. *
6) Place of worship
Occupied by force. Please do not mix government and country. I don't have anything against American people, but I hate the foreign policies their government employs.
7) Good personal experience
???
8)Genuine gratitude for the path to prosperity that Saudia offers and offered
*Again, they are only lucky to have tons of oil. Prosperity is not result of their innovation, philanthropy or economic planning. *
.....
We need to be critical of them because they are destroying the name and soul of religion most of us believe in.
Re: A different perspective on those who respect Saudia
^ I agree with most points. Was speaking from the perspective of those who have reason to like Saudi govt.
Since I have been very critical of that govt, was making an attempt to see things from the perspective of those who may have reason to like that govt.
I get it. That perspective is obscured by dollars. If i'm working for Aramco or Halliburton in Saudi Arabia, I would find everything great about that country.
But one would only like that government if he/she has their moral compass all messed up. This is a big issue for us. Islam is now supposed to be only limited to prayers and fasting. Treating other human being like insects doesn't matter.
Re: A different perspective on those who respect Saudia
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is welcome to give me religious advise at any time
The first topic I want some guidance on is the status of a monarchy in islam.
Once we have covered that topic, we can move on to another list of topics that I have.
Until then, their views and perspectives are as relevant to me as those of king Jaffe Joffa of Zumunda.
Re: A different perspective on those who respect Saudia
As far as criticism, or appreciation. From my POV its completely objective. In the end people who like or dislike anything would balance pros and cons and how they align with their personal viewpoints. I don't think there is a perfect place, and even if there is something that is closer to one's version of ideal, moving there is not easy. family, career, immigration, roots..all come into play
