You think that since most of the super-power nations are in the Western world (US, UK, other places in Europe, etc)…and since women in these cultures bare their skin more and hence feel the need to shave their legs…that the rest of the world copied? Kinda like how women from the upper classes were gori-chitti because they didn’t have to work the fields like the peasants…hence fair skin was considered superior. Going by this example…do you think that if it weren’t for the gori women…that women of other cultures would be happy with not shaving their legs? Do you think that if the Desi countries were the “superpower nations” of the world…that OTHER WOMEN would start walking around with a uni-brow…hair on their upper lip…and everywhere else too?

BUT change comes from the effort of few.we can start wearing of pretty multi colored parandas and i bet it wud be a fashion statement.

what a fail. if you're going to try snide jibes, at least get it right.

where do waxing/threading techniques come from? long before western women were still sporting full growth's of underarm hair, from the middle east to asia, women were doing full body hair removal.

the reason being is western women were histroically less hairy compare to their counterparts in south asia for example.

The old Greek sculptures show us that. The sculptures of women are polished, shiny and all, and there is no pubic hair at all, whereas the sculptures of men do show pubic hair! The Greeks thought pubic hair on women was ugly and upper class ladies removed it. The Romans did not like pubic hair either and young girls began removing it as soon as it first appeared. They used tweezers, which they called the “volsella” and had a kind of depilatory cream, the “philotrum” or “dropax”, the forerunner of the current depilatory creams! Waxing was also a way of depilating and this was done with resin or pitch.

In 1520, Bassano de Zra wrote: “The Turks consider it sinful when a woman lets the hair on her private parts grow. As soon as a woman feels the hair is growing, she hurries to the public bath to have it removed or remove it herself.” The public baths all had special rooms where the ladies could get rid of their hair. Nowadays the hamams, or public baths, have special rooms for the ladies to depilate.

I remember watching a documentary many years ago on the BBC about a man with hairy woman fetish and he travelled all over Europe to find the hairiest woman. He liked what he saw in Italy, but he eventually found her in Spain.

Everyone has hair on their bodies, some is obvious some isnt.
