They say that animals possess the ability to see what the human eye cannot. A howling animal is considered ominous especially if its around a sick person, its said that the animal can see the angel of death which is why it howls. Maybe little kitty has met the angel of death so many times that she has befriended him now and prefers to curl up by him instead of howling?!?! Not sure if the angel of death needs 4 hours to do his job though, could be superstition for all I know.
