We went to the zoo today for a behind the scenes look. It was about 9 degrees F with a wind chill of 12 below, so VERY cold. But we had a blast.
Here are a few pictures playing with, petting, and feeding the sea lions:
Next, we played with the penguins:
“Come get my finger”, he was playing peekaboo with my finger and nipping at it
On to the big animals:
That wimpy fence didn’t look like it would hold, she snarled and hissed at me as I walked in, we fed her fish and she purred like a kitten.
This was truly intimidating, the male tiger was massive and before we fed him, he looked none too pleased. The only thing between us was that rather flimsy chain link fence. I stared right into his face, inches from it, it was pretty awesome and scary at the same time.
The Arctic Wolves were the best, they were in their element in this weather:
We fed them too and they were just like big sweet dogs, but they were a bit snarly.
All the animals were pretty well behaved because we were there with one of their favorite trainers and keepers. It was such a blast, can’t wait to go back and feed the polar bear cubs, the cougar, and the elephants.
