a cup of chai...

is chai bad for u… ? we all have myths about it.. how it makes ur skin go ‘black’ (hahahhaha) and how its got a lot of caffeine…

i have about 3 cups a day… is that bad??

its bad .... "garam" hoti hai

hmm... so what does it do?

I dont know if it is really bad or not but zeeada chai , coffee achi nahi hoti , kala wala hona isnt case dear :D

well you're right about too much tea or coffee being bad for you mainly due to the caffiene in it but I doubt it makes your skin go black - probably just an old wives tale.

I doubt it. Most people have that many I don't see too many dropping dead as a result.

Sadzz babes it's all bull crap ... these myths about it making your skin dark.

I just saw a brief news report a few days ago that people who have been regularly consuming tea for more than 10 years have better bone density and stronger teeth! :)

Interesting MehnazQ,

The doctor recently told my mom at her checkup that she needs to stop drinking so much chai a day and make it a max of about 2 cups a day, because something in the tea inhibits calcium from being absorbed.

Will have to do some research to clear this, hopefully.

Any addiction is not good. Try to not be dependent on it. In other words, try to leave it for a while and then maybe drink it randomly.

3 cups a day qualifies as addiction?

and 2?

Try leaving it and if you have withdrawal symptoms, you are addicted to it ... at least in my books. :-P

it has anti-oxidants...

it'll will keep you looking young even if your teeth fall out

i dont drink tea :snooty: it just tastes bad

^ me either, don't like it.

i mean, in the winter, i'll have a cup of tea occassionally, but it's gotta be earl grey or chamomile or something, with sugar but NO MILK...

i think i heard it said somewhere that it strengthens ur immunity or something, but i'm not sure..

i can drink green tea occasionally bcos itend to get a sore throat alot
but tea, even milk i cant go near milk ..the smell makes me wonder whether im lactose intolerant
but i can have milk in *plenty of cereal

yes, i drink cups and cups of green tea when i go to chinese restaurants… i guess i can take it coz it’s so mild. until a few years ago, i used to drink atleast 2 glasses of milk everyday, just loved the taste of it. but now, even the smell of milk makes me :yukh: but then i love lassi and yoghurt, so i dunno.. and yes, i don’t mind milk in cereal…

very rarely i have Starbucks chai, but only coz it has so much sugar and spice in it that i can hardly make out the milk!

i knoooW! :yukh:

Anything over accessive is not good...its a common sense. I have read in many journals, that one cup of tea in a day is good for health as Aisha and Mehnaaz said as long as its taken during breakfast or with some food. BUT if ur drinking 3, 4 cups a day...ur calling for trouble.

Very close friend of mine had the habit of drinking 3, 4 cups of coffee/ tea everyday...and worse she'll drink it mostly when she is hungry without eating much. Eventually she got a permenent acid problem/heart burn...doctors told her to stop drinking coffee/tea but its very difficult for her since she is soo addictive. Same thing happened to her elder sister, she had the same pattern for yrs and when she got pregnant with her first baby she faced the same dillemma....got soo sick that she was hospitalized for many days and she had to completely stop drinking coffee.
I don't know, some people may never face any problem but for some it can lead to acid and heart burn in later lives if tea and coffee is consumed at this rate specially empty stomach. Just imagine what this caffine does when it reached in your body.

That is why I only drink tea while eating pakoras. :yummy: JP, some times your over excessiveness is very endearing. :flower2:
