Re: A Courageous Woman, A Courageous People/Mukhtara Mai in NY
Yes Dreamz . there was struggle came from her…I didn’t point out Mukhtaran MAI or her efforts..U might missed the train here…First of all nothing could fill her wounds thats for sure…I never argued on that…My question is why this ANAA or SAKHI or any other organisation would go in and support some other rape victims…Do you think if MUKHTRAN is in Indian occupied Kashmir these so called NGO’s would have supported her…NO WAY…
Wrong is wrong no matter where it happes but we should be smart enough to see what exactly is going against us…
I would be the first one to support all this recognition and support for Muktaran MAI or anyone else if that would bring justice to her or any other rape victim…I wish it would…
Media is the best weapon in the recent times but unfortunately we are the victims here not Mukhtaran or anyone else…
Thats my thought could be different…
Re: A Courageous Woman, A Courageous People/Mukhtara Mai in NY
What's the big deal if she received the award?
Unlike some other people, she is using the received money to a good cause (opening a boys and girls school not to mention donating for the quake?).
I don't know why some men are getting their panties in a bunch here!
Btw, do you have any statistics to say that how many gang-rapes are happening in kashmir?
Shouldn't there be a huge revolt on bengal style (or are kashmirs beghairat you trying to say?) that they let their women get raped en masse?
Don't blame me as an indian either like that lahori pind ka feeta as I'M NOT!
Re: A Courageous Woman, A Courageous People/Mukhtara Mai in NY
sighs! they support her because they are women’s right’s activists
they also support OTHER rape victims (desi, non-desi included) u should really visit their website and contact them if u need more info as to specifically how many people they have helped out.
mukhtaran’s case is unique …esp since musharraf made a very controversial statement…WHY do u all fail to see that all this attention from (anti-pak..as u called them) media and organizations is arising BECAUSE of our govt’s failure in dealing and Musharaff’s statement (want visa?get raped!) put that in the context of the current situation and view of muslim women (islam repressing women) these days in the western world and you will understand.
Re: A Courageous Woman, A Courageous People/Mukhtara Mai in NY
I agree, but if she speaks out on any specific issue like that, she will be killed the next day in Pakistan. That was why she only said very generic things. The NGOs behind her know the jahil thinking they are dealing with.
Just look at how much hate people have for Mukhtaran even when she has not said anything against Pakistan government. Imagine the reaction if she did.
Re: A Courageous Woman, A Courageous People/Mukhtara Mai in NY
Blitzkrieg..So u r saying there is no revolt going on in Kashmir…hmm…Are we missing something here…And as far as Bengal is concerned, revolt didn’t start bcoz of Rapes…There were few reasons for the revolt which started since 1954 (for your information) but not the rapes..
I guess, i couldn’t see myself going against Mukhtaran …Nopes…I support her truly…and i just raised the question about the image been portrayed by these NGO’s..and well for your information not a single NGO or even UN related person can enter in Indian occupied Kashmir…
I never supported Musharraf..I said it’s an ILL government and useless fellows which would never feel the pain until would happen to their own families…
So dreamz…we are not supporting Musharraf or government i was just trying to limelight the problem we are going to face…It’s all media war…
I guess its better not to get impulsive so i still have the same thought
“In the end we won’t have any Mukhtaran or Musharraf but it will be us in the end PAKISTANI’s.”
Re: A Courageous Woman, A Courageous People/Mukhtara Mai in NY
Sorry that doesn’t cut it. On the one hand you want to be awarded and celebrated for your bravery, as well as live in NYC but on the other hand you can’t even speak a few words for your cause. She is in the USA for exactly that purpose, safety, or do you think that the Pakistan Govt will send ISI assassins to NYC to kill her?

No, I didn't say that.
Read my post again. I just want statistics that say that women are raped as much as some media outlets and/or people say they are!
