I take pride in keeping myself up to date about the way changes are happening back home i.e. life style, culture etc. As I have couple of teenage siblings who keep me posted about them. I don’t expect things to be the same whenever I’ll visit back which would b after 6-7 years.
But last weekend I was not only surprised but was shocked. I went to attend Noori’s concert in city as I have always been a big fan of their music. A large paki crowd showed up which is a good sign as it means more pakistani talent can come and perform.
Any ways, when they were jamming couple of their famous tracks, some ppl from the crowd started shouting a pakistani swear word and I am not talking about some thing funny or cute but a full fledged horrible totally kharrab gali which I can’t even repeat . I thought may be these people are pissed on the band because of some reason. But even the girls were shouting the swear word and I was perplexed . The friend who was with me is a completed desi gora and he asked me what the crowd is chanting and I was like I don’t want to believe what I think they might be shouting.
And then after a couple when ev1 around me started shouting the curse word, the band actually sang a song which had the curse word as the title of the song to my amazement. I was so surprised and embarrassed at the same time, not only because the song had the curse word but because how easily people were just chanting along with it. Do they don’t know what that word means? Or our moral values have been changed to worst? I have spent enough time in Pakistan to understand that people from certain ethnic backgrounds use curse words regularly and are not much worried about them as compared to other ethnic back grounds. But this was so unexpected that I was dumbfounded for a while.
I feel so depressed and sad just to think about not how we have exhausted our literacy grounds that we have to stoop to incorporate curse words but because how easily every one has accepted it and became a part of it. I dunno na, I guess I was just raised in a different way
Re: A continious decline in our moral fiber???? bummer
Hmm he is actually singing a song about it...
I can understand that you are surprised about Ali singing BC song (I am surprised too) but I do not understand your surprisement about the fact that people are using the curseword so openly. You live in America I think? As far as I know, people in the west use the F-word in almost every sentence. Or the shizl word. Or the beech word. Or any other bad word.
Not only goray, but other etnicities too. Now they just replaced F with BC.
Ali did not need to sing about it, probably trying to be cool.

BBQ They are pretty legit rock band and their performance is mild compared to western rock concerts.
OP You are going to a rock concert and you expect mahfil kay addab-0-lihaz? Rock and roll is crazy and not everyone cup of tea. The song that I think you are talking about is at least 10 years old and they composed it when noori was considered a Pakistani underground band and only rock and roll enthusiast listen to them. Or may be its some new song that I don’t know. Post a link please.
