A confusion regards Pakistani Fashion ..

Ok, I really need some help here please.

1- So , if I were to dress formal not for a wedding but for going to visit important relatives and what not , what are those dresses known as in the Paksitani fashion market? would they come under the party wear collections? you know the dresses that have light sa kaam , nothing too overly fancy like wedding wear.

2- The likes of Sana Safina silk or Faraz Manan etc do these come under the formal dresses? like, are they acceptable as the formal wear ? or are they considered higher end casual wear?

3- What is the status of embroidered clothes in pakistan? seen highly or casually ? like for example , embroidered khaddar or embroidered linen by Gul ahmed or any other similar designers , what purpose do they cater to?

4- Many a times, a term I hear in pakistan is , oh its casual or high end casual .. What are all these differentiation? So my thought is , you were wearing casual when going shopping or somewhere comfortable. No kaam shaam on kapray of any sort , sans embroidery etc .. Semi formal or party wear is going to someone’s place formally , or , get togethers .. and then full formal wear , like weddings and what not .. am I missing out on any classifications of fashion?

1&2 : evening/semiformal/party wear.
3 : high end casual wear

Re: A confusion regards Pakistani Fashion ..

Well CB , it all depend on ur choice and class wr do u live.
After marriage , i myself become so confuse. My mil like embroidary whether on swiss lawn or georget.
When u r going to bazar like liberty ,gulberg , wear lite embroidary suit wid chíc chappal. Caz if i am wid my hubby ,he wiłl take to me to expreso or such place so hv to ready
If u r going to somewr relative' s house thn georget ful emb or lite fancy or somethng stylish but simple. Depend wt is ur relative clas.
If someone is coming to ur house, wear simple or lite georget when hubby 's friend is cming i do same.
For function , wedding of far relative , bareeze lite fancy with bright colour is gud choice. Or if close, thf high end designer wear must to wear.
these r my thoughts so far. Experiencing more, specialy whn talk cut shoes , chaqal.
Waitng other views. Must be helpful for me as wel.

Re: A confusion regards Pakistani Fashion ..

So what kind of minimum budget do ladies in pakistan keep for a dress that is classed as semi formal or evening wear and is to be used for attending dinners or get togethers?

A confusion regards Pakistani Fashion ..

I think people in the US/UK/Canada to tend to dress more formally. For example, I see photos of kids birthday parties where guests and mom are dressed in heavy clothes, type people wear to Shaadis in Pakistan. I've seen too much of that.

However in Pakistan and other parts of Asia, wearing a nice semi formal or formal kurti with good accessories may be a good enough outfit for a birthday. A branded lawn jora is good too.

I've worn SS lawn for Eid, but my cousins in the US think it's too casual to do so there.

1- semi formals, probably.
2- higher end casual. Not appropriate for weddings but good enough for birthdays/ladies functions.
3- not sure about its status in Pakistan but having embroidery makes the outfit more beautiful and more expensive. Good for dinners and even the regular desi functions. Kind of semi formal I'm guessing!
4- I guess you're right

(My views!)

Re: A confusion regards Pakistani Fashion ..

Everything is a personal choice/preference i think.
1- Semi formal
2- Semi formal
3- Casual or formal depending on the base fabric. Khaddar, linen etc high end casual, net, chiffons, velvets, silks etc semi-formal or formal
4- You got all that right though I have seen people more dressed up for eating out and shopping etc.
