The fact that he isn't telling his parents is fishy, what if he marries you in secret in America and his cousin in secret in Pakistan, to keep his parents happy?
At least American guy sounds legit.
Then again I'd feel sorry for the American guy if she loves another guy even whilst she's engaged.

LOL. Or who knows you might join countless others on GS with your very own sob story. It is precisely because of this mentality that I have no sympathy for those that moan and groan after the fact.

Your friend should go for the current dude (the one in USA). she needs to stop thinking about the one in pakistan..i know it wont be easy but she will have to try it only for her own benefit and for others. because marrying the guy from pak will only give her few days happiness because his parents will become really angry and most problem will blame your friend if she calls him to usa and get married to him. your friend's parents wont be happy at all.

she should immediately tell him that she is engaged now and that this is the last time she is talking to him, wish him good luck for the future..and delete all the contacts she has about him...phone, facebook etc etc.

she should also tell her parents about this whole situation and if possible make the usa dude aware of it too so that later on she doesnot have guilt that i hid something from him. but tell her to not to speak to usa dude all by herself...she should consult her parents.

tell her to keep a positive thinking about her marriage with the usa dude and very soon she will start having feeling for him. inshallah

tell her read do rakat namaz and pray...inshallah it will turn out well for her. ameen sum ameen
