DD i dunn think you did something wrong, specially because he had listed her as someone who you can talk to, now how she reacts to any news is out of your hands. Maybe the sahibzada should have listed someone who would not pass out like that, or maybe he is tryignt o get some money from yer company as well.
anyhow..kamran got it right. if the insured gave consent for soemone else to be notified, then ibrahim munna cant come crying why his mommy was called.

Mostly I agree with the above. But you shouldn't get far from the calling script (if you have one), and don't change languages, unless the client/customer requests, its unprofessional. You may want to design a call script if you don't have one ready, which should include not disclosing too much info.
Tofibaba, i had one days training and was really left to cook up a script myself. I asked my manager, colleague and trainee lawyer in regards to what should be said when i call a client and they were really very vague. Soo i made up a line..
' Hi, I'm Sumaira from So and So Solicitors in Manchester. We have been instructed by so and so Insurance firm to act on yur behalf in regards to a road traffic accident you ( they) were involved in on so and so date..i have to go through a questionnaire..would you be available for 10 minutes so i can procced to do that'
And i was so immensely proud of it...so much so that the guy next to me was copying my script lol khair..i edited the 'in regards to RTA now..and if somene does demand i'll say it's company policy so i can't discuss the issue at hand with anyone but the client.
