A child called IT

I read a book named “a child called It” by dave pelzer who describes the hell he went thru as a child. He was beaten burned n literally broken up mentally n physically by his own mother. He was the second eldest out of the five, but she picked on him for abuse. This book can be emotionally truamatic for a reader, i know i was a bit out of the loop for a while, but call be ignorant or what not, but how can a mother or a father or a human abuse an innocent child physically. What possible satisfaction can they get out of it. The abuser has usually been a victim himself, but how can someone who knows what that pain is like intentionally inflict it on someone else? Personally, i dont know anyone who has been abused or has abused their kid, but i know there r so many kids abused in countries where there r no laws for the protection of the child. I feel so friggin broken hearted. I never had to go thru any of that, but ugh.. this world just sucks..

yepp.. i guess there is no point to this thread.. jus wanted to make my heart feel a lil better

I read this book about three years ago, it's insane to say that this book was good because of the tense topic, but i have to say it should be something every parent should read.

there has to be so much hate in someones heart to put their own child thru hell. Its emotionally draining n my 16 sis in law has to read it for school n i reallllllly dont htink she should.. but then again, if we wont know, how can we become aware n try to understand it from the victims n the abusers point of view to some extent.

I read the book many years ago, and still have it. It was absolutely heart breaking, and I was also terribly shocked that anyone can do that to their child. Allah forbid.

Dave Pelzer has actually written 3 books in total about his experiances, iv read all three..it was really hard to read them without crying or feeling angry at his parents, but if you read the last one it shows how much he learnt and grew from what his parents did to him. He's actually forgiven his parents for what they did to him, its surreal to even think about thinking of doing the things his parents did to him!!!

Im actually glad i read them and he wrote them, it raises awarness of such a serious and important issue. I would recommend everyone read them.

Hmm i did not read that book what is the name of the

Thnx

i read this in 9th grade

Wasn't it later by Dave's other siblings that the books had been severely exaggerated?

^^ was it really shahreen?? i did a lil of research on his case, i wanted to find out what led his mother to treat him like that out of the blue. I found the book a bit choppy. For instance, one chapter hes talkin about how perfect she is and then it slips into her evil wicked witch of the west role. I wanted to know how her and her son's relationship deteriorated to a point where she couldnt care less of his sufferering. Does anyone know if there are more sides to this story.

I'm sure I recall reading some interviews a while back whereby several members of Dave's family said that most of the incidents were false, but then again it could be them lying about it as well.
