A Blessed and Happy New Year - Hijri Calendar

Re: Happy New Year - Hijri Calendar

Alhamdollilah. Another new year has started.

Muslim new year is always a mix of happiness and sadness. Due to events leading up to Ashura coming just 10 days into Moharram, its generally considered inappropriate to be celebrating like the Gregorian new year (Jan 1st). As X2 said, this is a day to reflect on what we did last year, and how we want to shape up for the next year. Fresh year, fresh start. Insha Allah.

Next year, the Hijri new year and Gregorian new year will coincide. Wonderful. This happens about once every 36 years.
