Subhanallah Its a beautiful Mosque
Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin Mosque
Built: 1958
Cost: USD $5,000,000.00
Type: Holy place
Observation deck: Yes
Location: Kampong Ayer, Bandar Seri Begawan (formerly
Brunei
Town)
Amazing in appearance, but too beautiful to be true, The Omar Ali
Saifuddin Mosque is Brunei’s proudest architectural achievement. It
sits on an artificial lagoon near the Brunei River in Kampong Ayer,
which is appropriately enough, known as a “water village.” A
structure in the water that resembles a ship was at one time used
for official state ceremonies. The mosque is the largest in the Far
East, and considered among the most beautiful in the world. It
reaches a height of 52 meters and is topped with a gold dome
supported by walls of Italian marble, which also forms the mosque’s
columns, arches, and towers. The stained glass was hand made in
England and the carpets are Saudi Arabian.
I don't know man,
If was sheikh of brunai, I would rather build roads and school in Pakistan.
I mean do some thing for ppl+infrastructure.
These morons half of the time they build their bedroom and other half they build mosques.
Funny they both look alike.
That's $5,000,000.00 that was NOT spent on his own people.
thats exactly the only indian ruler I approve is "Sher shah suri", that guy did some serious work on infrastructure.
Rather the building tombs/mosques/palaces.
I cant recall if this was the one we visited but Iv'e certainly visited the Water Village youv'e mentioed... its such an amazing place! they have masjids, housing, schools, markets... you name it all on water!!!!
This Majid looks truly amazing but there are plenty more I visited and all of them are jaw droppingly gorgeous!
can’t pakistanis build their own schools or roads?
you are trying to say that the government contractors in pakistan cant be trusted with these kinda projects because they mix reeti and cement in the wrong proportions and the roads dont last long enough
I think the main culprit is the local bodies and the nazims
^ thats the one! Subhanallah it is so beautiful... loved the openness about the masjid... pity we weren't allowed to take any photos in the actual prayer area, but I dont think a photograph would have done justice to the feel of the place!
^ In the Bolkiah mosque, the smaller tomb is women's area....but it is still quite huge from inside......Best time to go there is during Ramadan....i have never seen a such ronaq and peace anywhere
^ oh do u know the name of the one near the Theme Park? its green-ish in colour from the inside... i cannot remember the name, it was so sober yet gorgeous!
