a batsman finally????

its about yasir hameed…
the guy came in with a 170 and a 105 on debut in test…
and then with some more runs to get and average of around 74 in 3 tests…

although his previuos ODIs got him an average of 17 only, now with his century he has doubled it to 34…

so do we finally have a “real” batsman or just a regular batsman who dropped in when he was in good form…
and we know that when in good form even wasti can hit two hundreds in a test match :stuck_out_tongue:

i have heard that he aint much of a batsman as far as technique is considered…
and his run-calls r no good either…

His technique looks pretty solid to me. Very positive footwork and strokeplay all round the wicket. My view is he has all the qualities to make a top player.

too early to say anything ..
he is good at NO 3 and good at NO 2 also
but keep in mind he is playing against the BD ..and on home soil too..
lets wait till proteas tour..
by the way good start by yuongster

I go by what I see and although it's early days he looks to have what it takes. I said the same thing about Sami a year ago and he turned out pretty good so let's hope it's the same with Yaasir.

Yasir is a good find and from what I have seen of him so far, he is a solid batsmen with a good foot work. Given time I am sure he will develop into a solid number 3. The series against SA will help him gain valuable experience. As to run outs, he was responsible for the 2 run outs today but give the guy a break, he is inexperienced and he also made up for his mistakes by hitting a wonderful century.

:k:

well, yasir seemed to be in good nick today as well (except his run calls)....he has solid technique....as ehsan put, he is still inexperienced, but he will gain it over time...lets just hope that PCB dont drop him very soon.....give this guy ample chance and then we will see whether he can take on the opener or 1-down responsibility for the team.....

so far so good. his real test will be when SA visits Pakistan and if he performs good then next bigger test will be in NZ where Indian batting couldn't do much.

Yeah its to early to say that he has a permanent place in the team.
Like I mentioned in the other thread, there were many other young Pakistani batsman, who have put similiar or better performance then this on their debut but faded away in later matches. And all those other batsmen have done even better against better oppositions.
So time will tell, if he is the batsman Pakistan is looking for.

i think he's agood batsman. But I am not sure about his batting style. His shots just dont look quite as fluid as youhana. With his feet close together and knees at a distance, he looks odd. Just my observation. He will be tested against S.Africa. And his real test won't come until he faces Australia in australia, with Shane Warne in the team.

^ so that means his place is not permanent until he face shane warne in Austrailia. You should be in the selection committee. :)

Nothing wrong with Yasir Hameed’s technique, but of course against quick bowlers and on quick wickets the technique is tested. But so far he looks good. The thing that I like, so far, about Yasir Hameed is his ability to play big and long innings. Thus I feel he has the temperament, patience and hunger for runs…
Apart from that, the thing that I noticed about Yasir Hameed is that he does not fish or flirt while batting. He has solid footwork and goes through with defensive or offensive strokes rather than flirting, undecidedly, which batsmen do at times. Has good foot work but I do feel being NO 3 he need to improve on his ability to collect singles. Apart from that he looks good and of course SA tour and others to come shall answer confirm but I feel yes we have a new batsman…

Yasir…hmm Naaf hi kaafi hai

on a serious note…I think he is a sold player with a very good technique and foot work. Im sure he will be a great player! :k:

Tell me where I said anything about his place in the team? i only said he'll be tested severely against Australia. You should be in kindergarten :)

:naaf:

one other thought.....he tries to play too many strokes......he need to realize the importance of singles and move along with the tempo.....else, what will we have, "ANOTHER AFRIDI"........

That is a low blow :teary1:
