Re: A bad word or a very honorable relative ?

I dont think ..... if ya call some one SALA ..... ya mean what ZXCVB stated .. its big of Exaggeration

Re: A bad word or a very honorable relative ?

but wot did ZXCVB say? aik to yahan lath maar editing hoti hai... saray ka sara hi edit kar diya

here is my take on the issue...

the reason it is considered a gali is because men in the subcontinent are very protective and sensitive about their sisters and don't tolerate discussion of or a reference to their sisters amongst other guys. when someone calls someone else a sala, they are implying they are/will be married to that person's sister, when in actuality they are not. Hence it is considered a gali.

yaar thank you for putting it in a more readable format that the blunt response ZXCVB had written :D

sorry for editing that out, you must have felt left out:-p

Re: A bad word or a very honorable relative ?

I dont get it, does'nt sala only mean something to do with years. like saying TLK aik choda sala larka hai i.e. TLK is a fourteen year old boy, not that he is fourteen, but just to

I thought sala meant like saying to someone they are an imbecil or mind of a one year old ..

yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrr! :bummer:

there is a difference between “Seen Alif Laam Hay” and “Seen Alif Laam Alif”

PLUS your example is based on false statement :hehe:

Re: A bad word or a very honorable relative ?

but there is no difference in roman urdu? :(

Re: A bad word or a very honorable relative ?

Hein when did Romans start speaking Urdu :hmmm:

Jeeez we aint in Rome to do what Romans do with urdu :pcg:

yaar actually the guppy Roman is missing these days… although seen in Household affairs etc.. forum or something like that… I think he got married or something… he was asking for some type of flour or rice I saw few days back. Khoob aaTay daal kaa bhaao pataa lag rahaa hogaa… saari choKRi bhool gayaa..

PS: He speaks urdu

Re: A bad word or a very honorable relative ?

excellent thread, Mirch.

this is great - men respecting women as wives & their brothers.
as the BIL is a relationship due to the relation to one's spouse, its nice to see men caring about men in this relationship. respect only begets respect in any relationship.

best,
Dushwari
