What an absolute tool! What would have been wrong with baji?!
There is a lady in a shop that me and my friend often go in to purchase loose fabrics, the sales assistant is 40+ and called my 32 year old friend aunty!!!! My friend was NOT impressed and corrected her. She now calls my friend baji lol.
Hmm when my neighbors dewrani moved in I was 13 she was 25 I called her Aunty, when my cousins came from Pakistan they were the same age as I, but they started calling her baji, she has always been Aunti to me and thats how she refers to herself, ex: on the phone "I am your Aunti blah blah speaking"
My sister who is younger than me has a friend, whose mother she calls Aunti, the mother is only 10 years older than me, I call her Aunti, but lately I have started calling her baji out of respect for age difference. She never got offended either.
My own chachi is only 6 years older than me married to my uncle when I was 14. I call her Aunti too. I don't think I would mind.
I haven't been called Aunti yet, I don't know how forgiving I'd be if I did. :)

as per our society n culture, the moment u get kids they start calling you aunty, no matter wateva is ur age

I'm an auntie to my second cousins, that conversation with my family made me crack up. :) Along with the part where my mom is a choti nano. :) Than my 13 yr old brother was all like, "So that makes me an uncle?!?!?!?" Heh.
i call anyone i think who looks old auntie or uncle. when i was a younger i used to call maybe anyone even 5 or 6 yrs older those things, but now in general if i think someone looks 15 yrs older than me I'll call them that (out of respect of course)

I call lil kids (4-5 yr olds) uncle ... its wayy too much fun
And this 18 year old girl called me baby! twice. 
On topic, I must say it is all relative. I don’t think it should be taken personal at all.
For a 5 year old a 15 year old could be aunty.

okay I have decided to call ppl "beta" out of respect from now on.
Auntie is also synonymous with cougar. when a grown up man who is similar to you in your age calls you a cougar, he usually means a cougar.
