a close friend is a holder of pakistani passport , permanently residing in England … he is flying to Paksitan for a holiday via Emirates Airlines…
his Dubai stopover is for 22 hours … will he be able to get a 92 hours transit visa at the airport?
he wanted to get it from England but Emirates said they need 10 days to process it and his flight is in 6 days !
some people are telling me the govt of dubai has changed rules for the visa and they no longer give visa’s to indian and pakistani nationals at the airport…
Ask him to do hotel reservation for the night he will be in Dubai and get a confirmation from hotel by FAX. This is most important.
When he reaches Immigration hall, he can ask any attendant about Emirates desk for 96 Hour visa facility. The lady at desk will ask for his hotel reservation, passport and fee. I think $35 or so. Then she will ask him to be seated. There are few chairs there. It will take 30 minutes for her to get visa issued and will give him a visa printout and receipt. Then he goes to immigration officer who stamps ENTER on visa. Your friend should keep that stamped copy with him. When returning, immigration officer will again stamp EXIT on that visa printout and keep it with him. Thats all.
If your friend has no hotel reservation, the lady at visa desk will give him hard time. Off course, he can do hotel reservation from free-phones in the hall and ask hotels to fax reservation to visa desk. There are directories available. Only few 4 or 5 star hotels will do and arrange pickup but that will cost it a lot for just 22 hour stay. Other hotels will not entertain at all. It will he his luck and take more than 3 hours. The lady will also tell him she can also arrange hotel but again at very high cost. So, ask your friend to do hotel reservation by internet.

Thanks Mastana jee .. he has his inlaws living in sharjah. so he was planning to visit them for a few hours ... will the visa not be granted without the hotel reservation ..? or is that the must and there is no other way around it?
Well, it is impossible without the hotel reservation fax confirmation.
I got the confirmation before traveling without paying anything to hotel. When I entered Dubai, I hired a cab and went straight to my friend. No problems. Fax copy is just a RED TAPE for Pakistani passport holders.
OR
You can ask relatives in Sharjah to sponsor his visa. It takes just 2-3 days.
The only way to get a visa without a hotel reservation is either through Emirates, which he doesn’t have enough time for, or if his in-laws sponsor a visit visa for him. That option would cost them around US$ 140 and quite some hassle to go to the immigration department, etc. So it’s probably better if he does book a hotel through Marhaba Services on arrival.
The basic package will cost him US$ 164.-- and includes 1 night in a 3 star hotel, 96-hour visa on arrival and free transportation between the airport and the hotel. Look here for details.

I am travelling to Dubai - UAE later this month and will be staying for 3 nights before traveling to Jeddah. Emirates can not get me transit visa as I am using a different airline for Jeddah. I have made the booking with the hotel and asked them for the visa but they are asking for big deposit (£800-£1000). I don't think that much deposit is justified for the transit visa. I would like to check if somebody needed the visa and booked the hotel and got the visa on the airport, what are the chances to get the visa on the Dubai airport for 3 nights when I have hotel booking confirmation.
I am a permanent resident in UK but have Pakistani passport
