MULTAN:
At least 90% units manufacturing fake medicines have been destroyed while a crackdown has been initiated against those involved in making substandard medicines.
This was said by Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khwaja Imran Nazeer on Monday. He was addressing a prize distribution ceremony in which certificates and cash prizes were distributed among the members of task force and members of district government, Multan.
The minister appreciated the citizens for extending cooperation to the task force in eliminating the factories manufacturing fake and substandard medicines. He said, “Without the cooperation of common people, the government could not have achieved the target of eliminating fake medicines.”

On the occasion, Nazeer announced that special allowances were approved for the members of chief minister’s task force. He appreciated the efforts of drug inspectors, who worked round-the-clock and raided 1,000 units of fake drug medicines during a year.
He pointed out the government would soon announce special packages for drug inspectors and would address their grievances.
Earlier, police and health department officials raided a factory in Multan’s Kotwali police station premises making fake medicines and arrested its owners. They seized fake medicines worth millions of rupees and sealed the factory. The fake medicines were not only being supplied in Multan but also in other areas of South Punjab.
