KARACHI: Nine people were killed in different target killing incidents in the city Tuesday.
Two brothers affiliated with the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) were gunned down in the limits of Gulberg police station.
Police said that unidentified armed men on a motorcycle shot dead Qari Ammad Gul and Mohammad Shoaib Gul, sons of Gul Mohammad, who were sitting outside an oil depot near Landi Kotal Chowrangi.
ASWJ spokesman Taj Mohammad Hanafi confirmed the affiliation of the deceased with the religious organisation. *(Apparently, these two refused to close their hotel on the day of burial of Shaheed-e-Inqilaab Imran Farooq)

In a separate incident, two brothers were gunned down inside their house in Bhittaiabad.
Sacchal police informed that in the early hours of Tuesday, unidentified armed men knocked on the door of a house on Street No 8, Bhittaiabad. When Rizwan, 25, opened the door, the assailants opened fire on him. On hearing the gunshots, his elder brother Owais came at the door and was also shot dead by the culprits.
SHO Asif Jakhrani said that victims’ brother Bilawal claims he saw Rizwan’s friend Kashif Baloch alias Yasir at the time of incident and suspects his involvement in the dual murder. The victims also had a land dispute with their brother-in-law, he added.
The SHO said the deceased hailed from Quetta, Balochistan and belonged to the Sheerani tribe.
On complaint of Bilawal, the police have registered a case against Yasir and his accomplices.
Another brother of the deceased named Rahim was killed in Gulistan-e-Jauhar four months ago.
Separately, two friends were shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Dhobi Ghat within the Garden police remits.
SP Javed Akbar Riaz said unidentified armed culprits intercepted Fawad, 26, son of Abdul Majeed Baloch and Ahsan, 27, son of Ghulam Qambar, in Hassan Lashkari Village near Dhobi Ghat Garden and after an argument opened fire on them, killing them on the spot.
Ahsan’s family has told police that for the past many days, he had been tense due to unknown reasons and was avoiding meeting any friends or relatives, the officer said.
In another incident, the father of four was gunned down inside his house in Sector 8-A, Bilal Colony, Korangi.
Korangi Industrial Area police said Tahir Bajwa, 45, son of Riyasat, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen when he was sleeping in the wee hours of Tuesday.
SHO Ghulam Ahmed Sheikh said the victim, hailing from Faisalabad, Punjab, was an employee of a textile mill and might have been killed over a personal enmity.
Meanwhile, the bullet-riddled body of a youth was found in North Karachi.
Khawaja Ajmer Nagri police said Qamar Saeed, 28, son of Saeed Khan, resident of Drigh Road, was found dead near Aqsa Mosque in Sector 5C-2, North Karachi. The victim had sustained eight bullets and the body also bore torture marks, they said.
SHO Sajid Javed said victim, hailing from Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was a driver by profession and had been missing since Monday.
Another body of a young man was recovered from an empty plot near Anda Morr.
Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan police said the body of an unidentified man was found in Sector 7D-3, North Karachi and shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem.
SHO Mohammad Masroor said the deceased had sustained three bullets and appeared to be Urdu speaking. A 9mm pistol and two bullet shells were also found near his body.
