9/11 Memorial Museum & Gift Shop.

The 9/11 Memorial Museum has opened and garnered negative press for its “crass commercialization”.
Its gift shop sells a gamut of things ranging from hoodies and caps to mugs and rescue dog vests. It feels like something out of a satire.

Is it insensitive? Is it understandable/inevitable? General thoughts?

Some of those items do seem like satire unfortunately  I understand the need for the gift shop as it is there to help with the cost of the memorial, but it doesn’t feel right. i know it’s been over 10 years, but for us in New York it seems too soon for something like this.

It feels too soon to me too. :\

Its american society. The decision was taken by government and by various people who run the place, and there was no protest. Shows a lot about the society, when you can protest numerous things except for the commercialization of what basically is a memorial.

Zafra is right…this is American society doing what it does best.
