Khandani pressure and gossip is a compounding factor in why many of us have (or had) ended up the way we have (or had). The one thing I have learned in life is not to succomb to such pressures.
Baigette, if you're really suffering from the "clueless syndrome", I'd suggest taking a break from school for a year and get a job.
You may earn some money and save up for tuition, and in the meanwhile think things over from a practicality perspective. Talking to professionals may help too... Hey, you'll accumulate work experience as well and that is always good.
The only downside is that you could loose motivation to return to school, but I think that your current turn-off is much more dangerous from a long-term career development perspective.
