errr..............u drink water in a vase?? last time I checked an average glass was 0.2 liters. so 9 times 0.2 is 1.8 liters...
Drinking lots of water also helps take care of the dry skin and mine is as dry as a crock (especially for the Aussies to compare) its good to have lots of water intake.
I agree that weather has a lot to do with it!
who---me, lalayy .. I used to play squash in Pakistan and here I play Racquetball. Its kinda he same. The ball bounces more & thus makes you run a lot as well, & with less rules than squash ... on an exertion level Racquetball evens out ...but a nerd like you wouldn't know. :-P
CB, one way to help remember to drink water is to carry it along with you all the time if you go to college etc.. Another way is to eat something dry & salty, like peanuts, pistachios or pretzels etc. Though I wouldn't recommend eating a lot of dry fruit.
I do manage to keep track of how much I am drinking. It must be over 2 litres & under 4 litres per day. 2 litres are 8 glasses anyway. So yes I do drink this much.
Keeps ur kidneys running, so u dispose off many minerals u dont need in ur body, including Uric acid that can cause many deseases after the age of 40 years (namely gout in old ages).
Water also keeps ur weight in control. Keeps blood in adequate proportionate (doesn't let it thicken) so saves u from Hypertention & heart related problems. 8 glasses of Water & ½ kilogram (or upto 1 klogram) of fresh vegies per day (if u dont smoke & not over weight) u are pretty unlikely to have any heart or cardio related problems before the age of 60 (I am not talking about genetic defects here).
yep, it's defintely the case that you have to drink tons of water specifically, tea, coffee doesn't count (take note NeSCio) for the above mentioned reasons of skin, kidneys, toxin cleansing etc.
So lay off the cokes everybody.
8 glasses should be used as a rough guide, how much water each person needs would vary depending on factors such as body weight, amount of exercise been done, etc etc.
I read once that a good way to tell if you're drinking enough water is to check the colour of your urine. the darker it is the more dehydrated you are. you should apparantely be aiming for a "light wheat" colour.

first of all, have I somewhere stated that tea and coffee DO count? no! I said that 8 glasses doesn't mean that u should literally drink 8 glasses, in other words: pour 8 glasses with water and drink them. The reason for this being that u get around 2 to 3 glasses of water (or the equivalent of that) via other sources. And to make clear what these sources are I mentioned fruits and as some otehrs mentioned: vegetables. (I did NOT mention coffee or tea).
So, I don't know where u got the notion from that I said that coffee and tea do count (that is implied by ur "take note NeSCio"). perhaps u can show me how u came to this conclusion?????
secondly, the reason why coffee and tea aren't counted is the following: your kidneys clean ur blood. In order to clear for example (hypothetical numbers) 100 microgram of a certain toxic they need a minimum amount of water, say 100 ml. And this water is part of the water u need to drink. However if the water u drink already contains that toxic, for example tea or coffee, that THAT amount of water taken in will be used to clean THAT amount of toxic which was already present in it! in otehr words the water in coffee will not be used to clean 'other' water, it will be used to clean itself! But furthermore this isn't absolute, meaning that coffee and tea DO contribute a little to ur overall water intake
AND…I think I have far better resources to take notes from than an amateuristicly run Family Forum.

i'll share some of my experiences..i was literally one of those people who would drink 1-2 glass of water a day..or sometimes even none..i didn't used to feel thirsty at all..
but after reading the articles on health..i planned to change this habbit of mine..one day i remember i was very motivated so i drank lot of glasses and i almost felt dizzy and got headaches..hehehe.
Now i do drink more than 8 glasses of water almost..and those who can't remember to drink water..you can try few things that i did..i keep telling myself that i gotta drink water..i write it down in things to do list at times..when i go to work..i keep reminding myself that i have to drink at least one litre water..and from time to time i drink that..sometimes i keep the bottle near my desk..at home i keep drinking water and i add lemon to it..even at night before going to bed i drink water..
One thing you can also do is before eating anything drink a glass of water..its good in a way for people who are trying to do some weight loss..coz water fills you and then you eat less..
You can start off with 3-4 glasses and can increase the intake..i have noticed that after i started drinking i feel more thirsty..so maybe Carebear when you start drinking you'll start feeling thirsty too..just think about the advantages of water..and i am sure you can improve :)
8 glasses ke zaroorat naheen.. Xtreme tumhain toa chulloo bhar hee kaafee hona chahyay.. :)
I think it's easier to sip and drink small amounts of water all through the day; gulping large volumes can be unpleasant.
The quality and type of water are also important. Pure spring water is better for you than heavily chlorinated tap water.
More than 8 glasses should be taken. But thats sooooo many more than what I usually drink!!! ![]()
I have read this a month ago
A team of German and American Scientist conducted this study which was based on some 1200 folks of different age group. The study shows that now matter if your drink 8 or 3 glasses of water a day neither it will make any thing better nor worse.
The bottom line of that study was depending on the sex, age and location and under normal circumtances a human body does not require more than 2-3 glasses of water.
