I made it once wayyyyyy back when I was a kid....I remember it had a slight taste of 7up but wasn't that bad to be honest. You sure you didn't tweak the recipe? or were there any reviews for the recipe?
nope no tweaking .. the cake itself tasted alright , but was a hassle ... normally i just pop in the cake and it cooks nicely in balance from the inside out .. this one started going stiff on the outside and was still way too soft from inside ... the temperature was exactly as it said in the recipe , though i did try to adjust it again after things started going wrong .. but i think that sunk the cake :(
I think you're supposed to bake the cake the regular way and then add the can of 7-Up at the last minute, right before you serve it... that's the way my friends have made it anyway.
Well tbh I haven't eaten it myself, but a friend of mine has made it a lot of times and she said that it makes the cake's texture really interesting. Not fluffy, not gooey but still very light. Sorry I can't give you more details! :) Maybe try it one more time this way before you give up on it completely?
Yeah people put the can of soda (usually diet) instead of eggs/oil/water to lower the calories. I tried it once and did not like it. My younger sister liked it though :)
