7 out of 10 Google users prefer Bing

A recent, independent report claims that out of 15 Google users forced to use Bing exclusively for a week, 10 stated that would continue to use Bing after the end of the experiment.

These (shocking?) results come after Microsoft hired a research firm to look into how ‘transient’ we Internet searchers are. Do we stick to Google through loyalty, or purely because there’s no adequate replacement? I’ve always thought it was more of the latter: the Internet is all about scoring the best free ride. We continually hop from service to service as monthly fees are introduced, or if another site has functionality that we require.

This report suggests that Bing might be just as good as Google, or even better. With that knowledge in hand, Microsoft merely has to temporarily shift people to its new search engine – and they’ll stick. Be ready to see a lot more Bing-related special offers!

Google - Microsoft - Bing - search - Web search engine

Re: 7 out of 10 Google users prefer Bing

a research study with a sample size of 15 respondents - :hehe:

furthermore, MS hired a research firm to conclude their product was better, and surprise surprise, the research firm found that their product was better

ohh and, they were “forced” to exclusively use Bing, so they prolly didn’t compare search results across competing sites.

Talk about a scientifically flawed research design.

I’ve personally tried Bing, and think it’s a pretty decent search engine, but I don’t get as many relevant top results as I do in Google… so if you ask me, Bing has a long way to go before it can effectively compete with Google.

Re: 7 out of 10 Google users prefer Bing

google is neat, where as bing is clustered.

i personally use Google, then Yahoo search, then dogpile.

the good thing about dogpile is it shows who paid search engines for high ranking. and it also compares different search engines.

Re: 7 out of 10 Google users prefer Bing

omg I hate bing. what a cluttered site. and i hate how it automatically pops up sometimes. I forget when it does this, but I've had it forcibly pop up when I'm browsing, and you know what? That's pretty arrogant of Bing. I'll Bing when I want to Bing, thanks very much!

Re: 7 out of 10 Google users prefer Bing

  1. As LC mentioned the whole research was flawed . Its a joke .
  2. Even in their ads i.e. 'people like bing more' , it is about the usability of the website and not the algorithms that run in the back-end. The only thing they are counting on is the left hand panel with category of results . Thats the best MS came up with !! means come on .

Re: 7 out of 10 Google users prefer Bing

its pathetic to start with and even worst to end with... LC is dead right in his observations..
