I hope the authorities show no mercy to the animals who committed this crime!

May Allah (SWT) have mercy on those martyrs who lost their lives in this terrorist attack.

7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

A powerful bomb exploded in a crowded market Friday near the headquarters of a paramilitary force killing seven people and injuring more than 30. Hospital and police officials have said that 13 people are in a serious condition. The bomb which had been left in a fruit cart exploded in the markets 10 minutes before Iftari, Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Iftikhar Ahmed told Daily Times. “This is terrorism,” Ahmed said, referring to the deadliest explosion in Peshawar since the MMA took power in November 2002. The Friday blast is the fourth in a little over a month and police appear clueless about the perpetrators of the crime. The fifth explosion damaged gas pipeline. Eyewitnesses said the explosion left body parts, fruit, coloured bangles and sandals strewn across the street, which was cordoned off as bomb disposal experts retrieved pieces of debris. Ahmed said it was not yet known what type of explosives were used and added, “Let the bomb disposal squad complete investigations.” The explosion sent people scurrying for cover and loud cries could be heard in the area, a paramilitary soldier 300 yards away from the blast site told Daily Times. “The powerful explosion occurred in front of the historic Jinnah Park at 5:14pm,” Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) city Qadir Andul Qamer told Daily Times.

IG NWFP Police Raffat Pashah said it was “a terrorist act” and the bomb was “locally made.” He told reporters that police were investigating the blast and would soon reach the culprits. Deputy Medical Superintendent (DMS) of the Lady Reading Hospital Dr Mukhtiar confirmed the death of six people out of which three were from the Bajuar Agency. “The injured people were shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital, where the condition of 13 people was declared critical,” he said. Nobody claimed responsibility for the blast but “the government was warned against possible sabotage incidents during Ramazan,” a senior intelligence official said. However, he said the possibility of involvement of internal or external forces was being investigated. The street was crowded with shoppers making last minute purchases of food, shoes and jewellery for Eid. “I was buying fruit and other things for Iftar when the bomb went off shaking the area,” said 35-year-old Muslim Khan who lay wounded in Lady Reading Hospital’s Casualty Ward. According to a statement, Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani announced that Rs 100,000 would be paid as compensation to families of people who died in the blast, Rs 50,000 to people critically injured and Rs 25,000 to people with minor injuries, reported

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Yeh I heard, sucks for such a tradegy during EID. I mean EID shouldn't have to be this way for the injured. Not that any other day is good for death for innocents, but well my prayers.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Yeah very sad and tragic. The Eid of all those affected by this tragedy is ruined for sure. May the culprits be caught and given exemplary punishment

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

this is what you get when you tolerate this kind of extremist behaviour in pakistan

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Extremely sad...May Allah bless all...

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Hope the perpetrators of the heinous crime are brought to justice.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

such blasts are not new and are not necessarily result of 'tolerating extremist views', I don't know how old you are and what you know about Pakistan esp in 1980s but such bomb blasts were becoming common esp after Pakistan opened its borders for Afghan refugees.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Very sad day, the affected families must be going thru pain unknown to most of us.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Terrorists killing muslims in ramadaan just before iftaar? This looks like its the work of foreigners trying to cause unrest. Terrorists usually terrorise thier enemies who oppress them. Pakistan should internationally point the finger at india as india has always done with pakistan... They should also get the americans out of afghanistan who probably paid the person to leave the bomb there in the first place...

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

^ bhai sahib this not the first time 'terrorists' are doing it, lets stop blaming 'foreigners' for everything.... did you forget killings in mosques? who was doing all that?

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Its boggles the mind! What in the world would anyone gain from bombing these people? Osama and Al Qaeda are crazy, but atleast they have an excuse when they bomb innocent people, saying they support their govt through taxes and thus become targets... But this is Pakistan, and not even Al Qaeda nuts can justify this.
These fanatics sicken me..

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

LOL! Why are people tarnishing terrorists reputation? Real terrorists are those who are fighting for thier brothers and sisters in countries abroad and there etc. If this bomb was planted by a local (and not by foreign influence) then that person is a "sicko" not a terrorist...

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

Jazakh'ALLAH khair, janaab i do understand your point.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

:(

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

This is the sort of menace we face from these area's in the frontier lands of Pakistan, and from terrorists in Afghanistan.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

^ So what do you suggest, revert all Pukhtunland to Afghanistan?
Somebody has to own them, if not you then Afghans are already hankering for readoptation of their brethern.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

^
“Pukhtunland” needs to behave like the rest of Pakistan. You don’t see this sort of tribal bloodshed and open sectarian warfare in the rest of Pakistan as you see in these parts. Just look what was happening in another FATA agency a few weeks ago.

Re: 7 killed, 30 injured in Peshawar blast

For all its worth, we have to admit that the govt has some vested intrests here. Although it cant really be proven, some do suspect that the govt maintians the FATA area as a crutch on which the can lean in order to take the pressure of themselves. The US govt or any other group blames Pak for not doing enough to control the Al Qaeda and Taliban and Pak can cite the fact that FATA are outside the administrative control of the govt all the while buying themselves time to fallow their own course.
Its a fact that the people of FATA have compramised with the govt for the promise of Road and other infrastructure, so it seems these people do want to improve their lot.
I think what is important is for the govt to promote education, and gain support of secular and progressive parties, instead of courting backwards parties such as the MMA.
