7 Don'ts for After Meals......

Got this as a forward and thought I would share with you guys…

  1. Don’t smoke after a meal. Experiments done by experts prove that smoking a cigarette after a meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes.

  2. Don’t eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

  3. Don’t drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

  4. Don’t loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted & blocked.

  5. Don’t bathe - Bathing will cause an increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

  6. Don’t walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

  7. Don’t sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. This can lead to indigestion and gastric infection in our intestines.

Serioulsy? No one (I mean I) can function without tea after the evening meal. I only eat in the evenings so I can have tea afterwards!

I do know that one must not drink water during or afterward a meal as it makes you fat. No scientific evidence or terminology, but my daddi told me.

The tea thing sounds ridiculous. Tea is much less acidic than the hydrochloric acid in your stomach that’s working on food the moment you eat it.

In fact, drinking tea will have the opposite effect of what the article claims. It will dilute and thus weaken the acid in your stomach.

Who knows how much of the rest of this is written by a quack :aj:

Writing on science should be left to real scientists and real doctors :aj:

On review, I agree with points 5 and 6. Any form of physical activity slows down digestion because blood is diverted away from the gastro-intestinal track.

Point 7 might possibly have some merit. Further investigation is needed.

Point 1 seems suspect. The alleged "experts" cited are not named. And there would appear to be little scientific basis for why a cigarette after eating would lead to more contaminants being absorbed.

Point 2 seems ridiculous. Fruits have nothing to do with the air content of your stomach.

Point 4 is a little dodgy too. My understanding is that the intestines don't move around enough to be affected by loosening your belt (unless maybe you belt is so tight that it's constricting them anyway).

wesey i dont know if its a good idea to dilute in the acid in our stomah either :konfused: Dont we want it to stay the way its supposed to be at like ph 1 or something.

2 ...depends on the water content of the fruit you are eating...fruits like watermelons that are high in water content will end up making you bloated which is the same as saying dont drink water immediately after food, because it will make u bloated. drink water before food...

3 is kinda correct....caffeine interferes with abosorption of nutrients.
