I’m going alone and will be staying in a hotel. Being an overseas pakistani who has hardly lived in pakistan, I need some advice on getting around in the cities. Can I get a reliable public taxi service from Lahore airport/Daewoo stations and when getting around? Do they go by a meter or random rates?

3 nights lahore
Daewoo bus service to Islamabad
3 nights islamabad
Return Daewoo bus to Lahore
Also, can I buy a SIM with 3G from the airport?

No to the sim card. As for taxis, they're expensive. You do deals with car rental companies that give car with driver, that's cheaper to use.

i wonder if there is OLA or UBER taxicabs prying in ISB and/or LHE...if they do then it's the cheapest way to roam the city in a comfortable AC/Heated cars. there are plenty of those taxis in India...even in much smaller towns.
