This shows the futility of Pakistani’s Economy trying to catch up to Indias Economy’. The Indian Economy is almost 10 times that of Pakistans.
In other words every 2 years’ Indias Economy adds up, almost one & a half times the Total Domestic Product of Pakistan.

Who said Pakistan was trying to compete with Indian economy? For a more intresting comparison, lets compare China and India, or India with any of the other developed country…

These stats show that 32% people in Pak are under the poverty level compared to 25% for India. Also Per Capita is USD 2400 in Pak compared to USD 3300 for India.
Pak keeps insisting to USA and others - to treat them on Parity with India. Also their Army expenditures are way more than they can afford - yet their military keeps giving delusions to its people that one day they will wrest Kashmir from India.
The quicker Pak realises they cannot achieve parity with India - they will persue Peace than confrontation.
They can talk of Bhagwan ji and other crap - without realising that they have nothing intelligent to counter the realities of the situation they are in.

malhot, the figures produced by CIA are inaccurate. Refer to the Economic Survey of India, and the Economic Survey of Pakistan for the latest & accurate (and official) results.
Its time you stop using CIA as a source. Many sites have different figures given. Now which are you going to use? The official figures provided by the government, or figures calculated by a foreign agency?
Neither India, nor Pakistan have reached the 1000 mark fo GDP/Capita. Pakistan is at $847, and India is even lower.

The latest report is by (WDI) World Development Index please refer to that… Besides CIA is not geared to crunch economic data thats not their filed of expertise.

^^ care to compare the population? and how much resources will india need to improve quality of life for masses? Pak economy size may be not comparable to India, we have less people to care about less area to defend and to develop infrastructure. in the long run Pakistan has an edge.
so make some sense and compare the comparable.

From 1990 till date
Pakistan’s poverty increased from 26% to 32%.On the other side India’s poverty decreased from 36% to 26%
.This would mean Pakistan is poorer than Nepal:D .If it weren’t for foreign aid that u received Pakistan would be no better than Bangladesh
