India Face ‘Must Win’ Match

India go into their do-or-die one-day international against West Indies on Thursday missing three key players.

Srinath is not certain to play in Jodhpur

With Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan already having missed the entire series with injury, now captain Sourav Ganguly has joined them on the sidelines.

The home side will be skippered, however, by the in-form Rahul Dravid and he reckons his team has an excellent chance of tieing up the series 3-3 to set up a decider.

He said: **“I don’t look at this match as a pressure game, but as a challenge.”

“We’re missing some experienced players but it’s a great opportunity for everyone to stand up and deliver when the team needs it most.” **

India will rely heavily on Sehwag’s power

The series has so far showcased some monumental run chases, including 325, the third-highest in one-day history, which India managed in Ahmedabad last week.

**No side has won so far after batting first.

“Nothing less than 270 will be competitive on this track,”** West Indies captain Carl Hooper said. His team are unchanged from the 11 who won at Ahmedabad.

But Dravid said he is open to the idea of setting a target.

“I haven’t decided yet what we will do if we win the toss,” he said. **“The wicket looks good but it may have a lower bounce than the other tracks we’ve seen this series.” **

Left-hander Dinesh Mongia is thought likely to replace Ganguly at the top of the order.

But the bowling creates a bigger headache for the home side.

Seamers Javagal Srinath and Ashish Nehra have so far been massacred by West Indies openers Wavell Hinds and Chris Gayle.

Gayle already has three centuries and a fifty in the series.

All-rounder Ajit Agarkar could return but there is an outside chance that India may field three spinners.

All Combinations Considered

Off-spinners Harbhajan Singh and Sarandeep Singh, and left-armer Murali Kartik who was the most economical bowler in Baroda, could all play.

“All the players in the squad have a chance to be picked,” Dravid said. **“I’m not ruling out any combinations.” **

Hooper is eager to close out the series at the first time of asking.

But he added: **“It’s not going to be easy, we expect a hard game.” **

This match is going to be sweet! Go Windies!!!

This match is likely going to be another whipping for the Indian bowlers

But Indians should agree with me when I say that their bowling is very funny. I did not make this up, it is just a fact. Kyon? :)

Very true, India needs to do something about their bowling, especially the pace, or they are doomed.

I hope India comes victors in this encounter, setting up a Final type of atmosphere for the 7th match. I expect for Dravid to fill Ganguly's shoes really wel. Btw.. who is going to open with Sehwag without Gangs?

What pace? Their bowlers come running from 2 miles and then run out of energy by the time they have to throw the ball.

You are right and I know you are not making it up everyone knows that here but the indians will take this as another indian bashing comment. “angoor khatay hain” :hehe:

Windies batting first… :k:

Nahhh I mean find a 'good' fast bowler or ahem.. fast medium. That won't go off for a lot of runs.
Their spinners are good where their at.

Btw, ummm what ever happened to Venkatesh Prasad, and Mohanty or whatever his name was.

Ok match started.. 0/0 after 2 overs. Two straight maidans by Agarkar and Srinath. woah now..

Oh and no Harbhajan Singh, but Reetinder Sodhi as a Medium Pace eh.
Looks like Mongia will open too.

Great, maybe we don’t have to wait all night to see Gayles’s century ;)?

West Indies

3/0 after 3 overs.

India should nailed them down so that we could have a better taste of the Final Battle ;)

West Indies: 37/1 in 11 Overs

Gayle on 24

13 Extra Runs.

ooops :hehe:
