Sixty-three former and serving Army officers have been found to have links with Pakistani secret service agents over the past three years, Indian Defence Minister George Fernandes said on Thursday.
In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, the minister said cases had been registered against the officers alleged to have links with the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan’s intelligence agency.
He said of the 46 serving officers, the services of six have been terminated and cases against others were proceeding.
“Necessary counter-intelligence measures exist to curb such incidents. However, the security agencies concerned have been sensitised,” Fernandes said.
