Re: 6-23 September 1965 War, heroes, heroism and more
well knowing a bit bout the army i can assure you, whether convicted for his crime or not, for whatever reason, just the fcat that for some reason he was involved in such a case 'will' have an effect on his career; least that clould happen to him.
in the forces evry little things can spoil a career, this i big.
Re: 6-23 September 1965 War, heroes, heroism and more
In a regular, professional Army, yes it would, but not in the Pakistan Army. If anything they will have a laugh and back slapping about this in barracks. They revel in their goonda power and the untouchability it brings. I have seen it many times, from Army officers to low ranking Rangers.
It is hardly unheard of a Army man doing this, never effects the career, never punished.
And it was 'Major Rauf'. Perhaps you were thinking about Capt.Hammad.

Theres little doubt that Pak army is one of the most disciplined army of the world. and those who want to overplay the occasional lapses of the organization should have a look at the performance of most resourceful armies of the day..army for the time being has a vital role to play in pakistan's strategic issues..and we definitely honor all our brave heros of 48 , 65 , 71 and kargil conflict..hats off to them..and for our indian friends: you're encouraged to see ur army'r role in nagaland and kashmir..they have been blamed for all kinds of human rights abuses ...n i know they have real difficulty when they see more capable generals and army men across the border:)
Re: 6-23 September 1965 War, heroes, heroism and more
Pakistan Army can get away with anything.. Its one of the worst things about our country. Unless civilian authorites can get their act together nothig will change.
Re: 6-23 September 1965 War, heroes, heroism and more
This is pandemic in Pakistan. The use of force is really never critisezed. Not just by Army but everywhere, by the police, and everyone else aswell. Even our schools, Pakistani society is screwed up.
Re: 6-23 September 1965 War, heroes, heroism and more
Yeah pp1, i remember some of the items they had…i havent been to the museum for yrs…is it well maintained and how big is it now…? last i remember before we left Isl in early 90s there was a display at the race course ground on 6 Sep where the museum items were brought. The uniforms of some Nishan-i-Haider recipients were an amazing sight…i remember the unform of L/NK Mohd. Mehfuz Shaheed NH was ripped, i wonder why…that of Maj Aziz Bhatti was a sight…
Major Ilamuddin who laid down his life for Allah and this country in 1965 war. He is the FIRST OFFICER Shaheed in first ever declared war between India and Pakistan. If u go to Wahgah border u will find his name written on top of the list. Sutluj Rangers awarded him Sitara-i-Jurrat but then president declined it.
(pls tell me how can i post his pic)
Re: 6-23 September 1965 War, heroes, heroism and more
I remeber 6th Septembre 1965.
Great day
I was in Pindi with my mother
People were not even a little afraid
The Shops were opened and public transport was available as normal.
News of indian attack were on evey one's lips but the nation was united.
Army was moving and people were standing on the sides of the roads waving hand and raising slogans in favour of Pakistan
We travelled back to Attock .
THere was blackout every where
No body was sleeping that night ready for Indian air attacks
Re: 6-23 September 1965 War, heroes, heroism and more
One name those days was much popular
He was not an army man but his voice was fighting
**Shakeel Ahmad **The news caster of Radio Pakistan
He was given no 3 by indian media as in the list of enemies of India
