Pyrotechnic show at a rock concert by Great White got out of hand. The buliding burst into flames within minutes. 54 have been confirmed dead so far.

Although I was born and raised in Ohio, I currently live in Newport RI. The site of the fire is about 2o minutes away.
It is hard to express how small Rhode Island is. It has less than a million people in the whole state, and you can drive corner to corner in about 45 minutes.
It is a little shocking at the large loss of life, and large number of injuries. I am certain I have lost neighbors. People here are very shocked. There was a big loss of life in a club in Chicago, but you just don't expect this is our area.
Scary stuff Ohioguy! In a small town as this was, im sure everyone knows someone who got affected by this. If u recall, this is the 2nd such mishap in a week. The first one in Chicago where 21 died. Sad.

The blaze broke out at about 11 p.m. during a pyrotechnics display at a Great White show at The Station. The club quickly went up in flames and little was left of the building early Feb. 21.

The death toll is now at 85 with at least 20 in critical condition. Very sad.
The whole state is just stunned. Am waiting for the lists of people to be released.
Og, thats really sad. One can only pray for all those people that died in that inferno.
