Mashallah, first gift of economic growth. What happened to billions spent on railways?
The derailment occured in Sukkur Division near Rohri Station. The most probable cause may be track. Either buckle or fatigue fracture near rail joint and spread of guage followed by derailment of wheels inside of track causing capsizing of coaches at 70 MPH.

One should be intelligent enough to think first before posting such tragedy in Politics and Economic Section. The language you have used is very inappropriate showing lack of manners. This is not the first accident of nature, there were dozens of such type of accidents in past where thousands have died. Do you care?
When Mush bulldozed Lal Majid killed a number children and women, bombed Wana Mosque killing tons of teenagers, regular bombing of Waziristan, Swat etc killing many innocent people in the name of Taliban/AlQaida/Jehadis, do you care?

Well Id think if rasheed would spend more on renovation and maintance of our system rather than on himself, we'd have less accidents? If a cake tastes horrible, you wouldn't blame the ingredients but the chef right?

...and the lawless corrupt system developed by dictatorial military regimes....I think the man who was responsible for railway for past few years....if he has any shame....should not present himself to be elected again ever in his life.....but then it's all wishful thinking.....the whole country has become like a jungle....there is no concept of normal decent behaviour>>>>

It's not the job of the minister or head of an institution to do every pettty job....but it is his job to put proper systems in place to do these jobs specially where public safety is concerned....and if he is incapable of putting these systems together....he should never have accepted this job in the first place>>>

Pakistan Railways lowers crash toll to 35

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways on Thursday lowered the death toll from a massive train derailment to 35, even after two people died of their wounds overnight. The state-run company had previously said at least 45 people were killed in Wednesday’s crash, when an express train came shooting off the rails and tumbled down an embankment. “The final death toll is 35,” Pakistan Railways operations director Junaid Qureshi was quoted as saying. He said the earlier higher toll had been an estimate.
He said around 250 people had been injured, most with minor wounds, and that 35 people were still in hospital – 10 in critical condition. The Karachi Express was en route to Lahore, filled with hundreds of people getting ready to celebrate the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, when the train derailed outside Mehrabpur, 200 kilometres (125 miles) northeast of Karachi.

But didn't you bring in lal masjid and alqaeda in this thread unless AQ / mullah "fm" sabotaged the track?
I read that it was because of "cold" that the joint in the track buckled. I don't buy it since i don't believe it is that cold to cause it since, unlike the US, the tracks in pakistan are in smaller sections. I believe it is the lack of maintenance. It could range from the cracked wood planks supporting the track to rusty joints that haven't been replaced. We are one of a kind nation where we f*ked up even the rather good rail infrastructure given to us by the brits.
