Till last February, Opposition parties and their calls for protest against Musharaf was treated as a joke in Pakistan. Niether Nawaz Sharif's PML (N) nor PPP had any public sympathy.
The great development in Infrastructure, Telecoms, Media has given Pakistanies good life style, which they never nad before, many new business generated, Foreign Investors liked Pakistan and Investment was coming in, The actions against govt. officials and releif for the poor were in the favor of Musharaf as it was his govt. who did it and then Musharaf shot himself in Foot, not once but thrice, not many people can survive after hitted by 3 bullets.
1) 9 March, Sacking of CJ.
2) 12 May, Dancing on killing in Karachi
3) 3 Novemeber, the Emergency
these events trigrred the Flour, and edible oil scandals and people held Musharaf and his allies responsible for all these.
Musharaf Instead of catching and prosecuting the bad guys started his Ration Scheme, which by all means was a joke.
Now, if one minus 9th March incident ( mother of crisis) from the Musharaf's era, no opposition had any chance to win the election and Mush and Allies might have enjoyed the fruit of their good work and achievements... but i don't know what they were thinking whil spoiling all their hard works of 4 years.
