Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
have a banana in the morning, then some Muller rice for lunch which i think contains some apple, followed by a whole apple. 2 glasses of orange juice equal 2 portions of fruit. and the fifth portion can be a salad of fresh vegetables.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
i think salads are the best way to get veggies. salads have raw veggies not messed up by the heating that we incorporate in desi cooking.
desi foods are generally not too nutritious when it comes to getting appropriate amount of veggies...
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
ihave had eight ipeces so far. O lov emy fruit et veg.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
I thought it was 7-9 fruits/vegetables per day
and I had actually been thinking of asking the same question.:)
Anyways I get my vegetables in salads and
fruits in smoothies.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day

Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
add yogurt with live active cultures (not pasteurized), raw veggies to your diet and watch your health improve immensely.
also this is a hundred percent tried thingy...add vinegar to your diet...it curbs appetite and improves digestion.....
i personally know a girl who lost over 50 pounds....she mixes yogurt and vinegar with her veggie curry and eats no meat eek. but not only did she lose the weight but her skin looks gorgeous....
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
Shweets
have a few questions.
1- did she not do any exercise?
2- how long did it take her to lose 50 lbs?
3-can pesturized yogurt be used?
Thankyou.:)
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
yeah sajal as far as i know she does not visit a gym. im not sure if she exercises at home but she switched to strict vegetarian diet. she lost all this weight in a little more than a year.
and pasteurized yogurt isnt that good because pasteurization kills the good bacteria in yogurt that aids digestion.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
Ok one last question.
Doesn’t yogurt taste weird mixed with vinegar? How much vinegar?
Any vinegar? (sorry it’s a three part question) ![]()
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
i dont know hehe i never tried it...it must taste weird...but you know i started adding balsamic vinegar as salad dressing on my salad and i did feel fuller after a while....you dont have to eat it like that. you can eat them seperately i guess.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
I have just given up my ranch dressing.
Guess I should try vinegar wali this time.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
I often dice some sweet onions, tomatoes & cucumber into a sabzi walla salan and eat it without roti/pita/bread.
Sweet baby carrots, celery, grapes as snacks at work. Also, I add as much fruit as I can with morning cereals.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
A few weeks ago I saw this demo at Costco for a blender. They were shoing how easy it was to make smoothies etc in it. Then the lady switched to veges. she literally put a bit of every vege u can think of in the blender, added boiling water and blended it to a puree. Then she add some seasoning, some red beans and corn along with a few tortilla chips and blended just a bit so they kept their texture. It was the yummiest soup I tell you, that too prepared in under 5 mins-a must try.
Re: 5 portions of fruit/ veg a day
i always add a fresh fruit to my morning cereal. For mid-morning snack i will have a lowfat fruit yogurt. For lunch i will have a big bowl of salad with whatever i am eating. Usually, i will steam veggies for dinner with brown rice and i eat two kinds of fruit before going to bed. In between meals, i munch of carrots, cherry tomatoes or some berry fruit.
