5 pillars of islam, what are they for

well i want to know wat are they for.

if someone follows them can they do wat ever else they want, i.e drink alcohol, have sex etc.

i have heard people say everyone must follow the 5 pillars, but the wat is the rest of the rules in the quran for.

Five pillars of Islam are:

  1. Shahadah
  2. Salaah
  3. Saum
  4. Zakaah
  5. Hajj

Abiding by the five pillars of Islam does not permit a Muslim to indulge in drinking and fornication/adultery. Both khamr and zina are strictly forbidden in Islam.

Also, Quran speaks about all the five pillars in the Quran. However, I don’t recall it labels them as ‘the five pillars’ and Allah (SWT) knows best.

There are numerous other rulings in the Quraan that we should all try to abide by.

The Question here SADIYA is why are they for? And they are not limited to what Sadiya only mentioned as to get indulged in drinking and fornication/adultery.

BUT to me Five Pillars of ISLAM makes one a good practicing muslim.
'Salaat' is a communication with ALLAH, remembering ALLAH in prayers is indeed receiving his blessings.
Saum - Fasting, it makes one realize about many ppl around the globe who are hungry, it teaches man/ women to be more pious by reflecting upon his actions and to improve.
Zakaat- Not only zakaat but other forms of charity are pivotal as well. It purifies your wealth as you share with others. It teaches you to be more humane, it strenghtens your faith and belief of brotherhood and helping humanity
Hajj- visiting ALLAH's house if possible (with your means) is indeed a blessings. It fortifies your faith
Shahada of course you know it's what makes ONE muslim

Hence, these pillars of Islam makes us a better practicing Muslim

And the answer to your question is no. The 5 pillars are the basic foundations. After that you try to be a muslim in action, mind and spirit.

Is it not the teachings of christ to turn the other cheek? If you turn the other cheek does that mean you can do anything? If you are catholic and confess daily does that mean you can do anything?

the 'five pillars' is a myth perpetuated by mullahs.. there is no such thing in the Qur'an.. but hey everyone's free to create what they want.. it's a free world.
