And strangley its as if nothing happened. None of the frontline news outlets reported it. This “analysis” of the incident is worrying. Specially the part where Mukul Kesavan feels is that these incidents are test cases fro hindu extremists to see how far can they go with Modi as PM.

](’میں خوفزدہ ہوں، بہت خوفزدہ‘ - BBC News اردو)Historian Mukul Kesavan says one reason is that “history of communal violence in India demonstrates that it is closely connected with turning points in high politics”](http://www.telegraphindia.com/1141027/jsp/opinion/story_18966898.jsp#.VFNQ0vmsXy3). In this case, it happened months after the Hindu nationalist BJP swept into power in Delhi with a historic win. There is not a shred of evidence to link the party to the violence but Mr Kesavan wonders whether “**Hindu activists are testing the waters, testing the limits of the politically possible in the wake of the election”. **
Trilokpuri in east Delhi is not your average, nondescript Delhi neighbourhood.
It began as a home for socially deracinated, poor and disadvantaged people who were cleared out of their homes during a slum-cleaning drive by the Congress government during the [Emergency](http://indianexpress.com/article/opinion/columns/once-upon-an-emergency/) in 1976. The neighbourhood gained a notorious reputation as a religious tinderbox in 1984 when it witnessed one of the [worst episodes of the anti-Sikh riots](http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/8306420.stm) - 350 of the more than 2,700 Sikh victims were killed here.
this is very disturbing…in 21st century, minorities in india are still being treated so shabbily and brutally. very sad. Now if the response is that please look into your home first then I am sorry, I am not going to buy it because i have been writing extensively on the poor treatment of minorities in pakistan
Indians can say whatever they want to but there is some truth to the assertion that indians have chosen a damn fundamentalist to present them…equivalent of hafiz saeed. Imagine if Pakistanis have elected hafzi saeed as PM, can you imagine the fury in india?
While Pakistanis keep on rejecting every fundamentalist party in the electoral process, Indians keep on giving them chance after chance.
Don't know what is going on in this Delhi neighborhood. But agree with the rest of what PD has to say.
waisay uncle jee...i do recognize that majority of indian voters decided to vote for modi not because of his allegiance to fundamentalist hindu parties but because of his good governance record and strong economic indicators in his state .... but the problem is that Modi has to keep his key fundamentalist supporters happy...
I am a huge supporter of friendly india-pak relationships....it is my dream to go to india freely and vice versa and was very happy when nawaz-modi strcuk a cordial partnership but looks like everything is going to the gutter now

To the best of my knowledge, Gujaratis have always had good business acumen. I am not sure Modi deserves credit for that.
I was watching a program - maybe in PBS- where there were two economies and two neighborhoods - I think this was in Ahmedabad. . Hindu neighborhoods had good infrastructure etc. And they show just a few 100 m away Muslim neighborhood with poor amenities.
So it may actually be a case of two economies. Not sure I would credit such divisive leadership.

Infrastructure development is usually a direct result of tax collection in a particular area, higher the collection, better the infrastructure......not at all related to religion or politics....unless you would like to make it seem that way.

Are you saying tax collected in one area is spent only on that area? please don't try to justify non-sense with more non-sense.

No, it's not completely spent on the same area but the bulk of it is, and that happens everywhere, Notting Hill has better infra than Brixton, Gulburg has better infra than Gowal Mandi, Bandra West has better infra than Bandra East, and so on and so forth..
I can't help you with that, can I? BTW nonsense is a single word and not hyphenated.
English is NOT my FIRST language [mother tongue]...may be it's yours...aapkii shahriyat to maGhribi hogii...India meN to aap Ghalatii se rah rahe hoNge. :D

Why would I want to make it seem that way? I am simply stating what I saw on a TV channel as I clearly stated. You probably deliberately ignored that part - to make my post "seem that way"?
I also have anecdotal information about residents "discouraging" a tutor from teaching "Mohammedans" in her residence.
as long as bjp are in power, and dont do anything to rein in their even more right-wing bandars, incidents like this will only increase. modi has the excuse of "development" and "anti-corruption" going for now, but very little of it is there to see besides all the high profile appearances, photo-ops and speeches. sooner or later, things will get dominated by bjp than modi and then it'll be a big problem.
