If that’s the reception Spiderman got, damn, can’t wait to see how much Star Wars will be like.
Star Wars is opening in 6,000 theatres, whereas SpiderMan opened in 7,500 theatres. So, I don't think Star Wars will be making new records on opening weekend numbers. But its still an eagerly awaited movie.
Lucas only booked digitally advanced theatres which will show his movie to perfection, and he is not going for record numbers in the opening weekend, but is gunning for sustained revenue, which is always the case with Star Wars movies.
I'll probably watch it during the following week or the weekend.
