5:54

can anyone please post the explanation for this verse
who are these people and possibly when this verse was revealed
will appreciate if both shias and sunnis give their views

Re: 5:54

(Yusuf Ali): O ye who believe! if any from among you turn back from his Faith, soon will Allah produce a people whom He will love as they will love Him,- lowly with the believers, mighty against the rejecters, fighting in the way of Allah, and never afraid of the reproaches of such as find fault. That is the grace of Allah, which He will bestow on whom He pleaseth. And Allah encompasseth all, and He knoweth all things. (5:54)

Lets break and read;

In this verse Allah is telling the believers (you/me/any) that 'whoever from among you turns aways from his system/faith'
then Allah will bring people whom He loves and they love Him and are humble towards the believers, proud towards the rejecters and
they strive in the cause of Allah and do not fear to be blamed by those who blame. This is Allah's grace, He bestows on whom He wills. Allah is Encompassing, Knowledgeable.

Cheers

Re: 5:54

No one is a scholar here but everyone is a Muslim…I do not challenge the interpretation of scholars but I wish to present my own interpretation and as a disclaimer, should be taken as an interpretation of someone with very little knowledge…

** 5:54 O ye who believe! Whoso of you becometh a renegade from his religion, (know that in his stead) Allah will bring a people whom He loveth and who love Him**

Love of Allah :swt: comes at a price…It’s price is believing and following His commands without fear of reproach from anyone. The price of believing is faith.

Now, what is love for Allah :swt:? How can it be translated as? It means, if a person loves the Creator, he obeys His commands no matter what anyone says. The Muslim will without fear pray his Salat when the time comes wherever convenient whther people look down on him or not. The Muslim who loves his Lord will stand against and oppose everything that is despised and forbidden by his Lord. The Muslim who loves his Lord will do his best to strive in the way of his Lord to spread His word. This is the criteria of love, that a Muslim believes, follows and obeys Allah :swt: without fearing rebuke and chastisement from anything.

Not loving Allah :swt: means simply doing what your heart desires despite knowing what He likes and dislikes.

**
, humble toward believers, stern toward disbelievers, striving in the way of Allah, and fearing not the blame of any blamer.**

The Quran has been made easier for all to understand and there is no doubt what this posrtion of the Ayah refers to.

A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not harm him and does not expect harm from him either, but that is between those who have love for Allah :swt:. The unbelievers will remain the enemies of Muslims but their mouths will be projecting love. Like the Americans, while they profess peace, liberty and justice to Muslims of Iraq they shed their blood like cattle. Using weapons no human can think of using upon another human which scars the earth and rots it for billions of years. Depleted Uranium and the Chemical weapons used in Iraq are examples of that.

Muslims have been commanded to stand harsh against them and their actions. For in another Ayah, the unbelievers have been cited to say, ‘We are the peacemakers’ but the Quran refutes them. Their peace is death for others.

As for the blaming part, even that is self evident. Today, every Muslim who speaks and acts out against the atrocities perpetrated on Muslims, is labelled a terrorist. As a result, a stereotype has emerged which coerces Muslims into shedding their Muslim identity and acquire an identity not in accordance with Islam. That is because they fear the blame of the blamers.

Yet, there are those who acquire their identity for love of their Lord like adopting the Hijab and growing beards while those Muslims, who have no love for Allah (swt) mock and ridicule these same people who love their Lord.

When the 17 Canadian Muslims were arrested, a thread was opened in General. Look through it and see how many feared the blame of the blamers. If they had love for their Creator, fear would not have overtaken them and they would have stood fearless with their beliefs in front of anyone.

Yet, there are those Mujahideen, who take up arms against atrocities committed against them and fear not being labelled as terrorists. They have no fear except the fear and love of their Lord. They are harsh against their enemies and the enemies fear them and Muslims love them. And those Muslims who have no love of Allah (swt) and fear the blame of the blamers, shout the loudest in condemning them, so that blame is shifted from them.
**

Such is the grace of Allah which He giveth unto whom He will. Allah is All-Embracing, All-Knowing**

This fearlessness and love is the Love of Allah (swt) which He bestows upon the believers…By giving them tests and seeing how they respond…

A Muslim may be tested in his wealth, in his health, in his family and so on…This Muslim’s reaction will determine his love for Allah (swt)…While some tested will resort to disbelief, hatred against Allah (swt), their hearts will become hardened and their minds will wnader away from the rememberance of Allah (swt)…

While some tested, will become humbler with more humility, wisdom and grace as was shown by our Holy Prophets (May peace and blessings of Allah be upon them all) for they were the ones who were tested the most…

The Quran states, that do we think that we will be left alone by simply stating we believe? Heck no…That belief must first be tested…It is really easy to say and act nobly, however the mettle must be proven under the tests of the Lord…That’s when spirits either fly or sink…

May Allah (swt) save us from His trials as we are weak and spindly in nature and won;t be able to take them so easily…Ameen Summa Ameen…
