I think that is a bit harsh on Australia. They competed well in this series. Won the first test comprehensively, lost the second after 2nd innings collapse and did well to bat out the final day of the 3rd test. One collapse literally sealed their fate. Their spinners surprisingly did well too just that Indian spinners collectively were a bit better. Kohli had a forgetful series with the bat. His opposite number Smith outshone him with two hundreds. 1-2 is not a huge loss.

What about australia vs paksitan this year. we lost first with 7 than we competed well . still they give us only 3 ??

Pak should not have lost at Melbourne (2nd test) and we competed well in the first test

The difference is when sub-continental teams visit Australia (& RSA) they usu. lose 3-0 or 4-0

This was definitely a much improved performance by Australia compared to their last series in India (0-4)

RSA lost 0-3 in India in 2015

Correction:

Smith scored 499 runs in the series @ 71.28 with **3 hundreds, **the best performance by an overseas batsman in India in recent times.

Kohli managed just 46 runs in 5 innings @ 9.20, his poorest test series to date. Pujara and Rahul were the top performers for India

Some players are never looked that they will score big. Smith never looked to me that he will score such high . He is not a mark waugh or ponting but look at his scores.
Same for YK . I never thought he can be higher than MOYO…
