Re: 4th ODI: Pakistan v South Africa on 26 Oct 2007 @ Multan

Going by the news reports and rumors circulating, this is perhaps the only ODI, where neither Asif nor Akhtar are available to play for Pakistan. On the face of it, just having Gul, Tanvir and Rao leading the attack sounds like a scary prospect, the clincher in the 3rd ODI were the middle overs where Afridi put the brakes on. With Yousif back in his sublime form, South African won't find Pakistan to be a pushover, even without our front line fast bowlers missing. Clearly Pak will have to win through batting, and its crucial that Yousif and Younas stay for 25-30 overs and build a good solid innings. I have no realistic expectations about a decent opening partnership. It wouldn't matter whether Afridi opens or not, we'd be 2 down before the 10th over is bowled.

Re: 4th ODI: Pakistan v South Africa on 26 Oct 2007 @ Multan

Well I think Akmal should also be replaced with some talented young wicketkeeper/batsman. We are in situation now to do some more positive experiments that may be giving chance to Khalid Lataif in one of two matches. Another important thing is, place of Misbah, he is good for limited over and but from the aspect of technique he is not that talented player nor his age is in accord with future player which can fulfill the gap of Inzimam. We should also think about that position very quickly, especially for the test matches so that a young player can be groomed to fulfill the gap of Inzimam in terms of quality.

Multan…
:hmmm:
small ground…
easy sixes…
Saffies might be looking towards a run blitz if they win the toss…
If they loose, there is no question…
PAKISTAN MUST BAT TO SET SOMETHING ABOVE 300…otherwise…it is going to be difficult…

Again my do koree kee rayay…

Re: 4th ODI: Pakistan v South Africa on 26 Oct 2007 @ Multan

This is going to be another slow pitch which will assist spinners but without Rehman this strategy might backfire. But since we don't have enough fast bowlers either PCB have no other choice.

Re: 4th ODI: Pakistan v South Africa on 26 Oct 2007 @ Multan

Pakistan better set a target of 330 or better on this pitch... I think and hopefully Malik will win the toss to do so.

According to Jang, Mohammad Asif will be playing this match? Although I don’t normally believe everything Jang reports.
