Exactly…

Footwork or not…Sadagopan Ramesh more often than not scored runs. When he burst into the scene during Pak’s tour of India, the media was going gaga about how he seemed completely at ease playing Akram and Waqar Younis. He had that lazy elegance about him.

I only had problems with his lethargic fielding.

Guess what is more lethargic right now?

Re: 4th ODI Pak- Ind Feb 16 - Multan D/N (Afridi out) – All merged

Ah…a revelation. Ah, how will I long for these days in the future…Few short pieces from CricInfo. The infamous Inzamam, once again, comes into the picture:

- “We didn’t play that badly but I think the Indians played good cricket.”

Well, nothing much to criticize here, but…think? You think? You just “think” that Indians played good cricket? After Rahul Dravid fully praised the entire team’s efforts in a presentable and respectable manner during the Presentation Ceremony in front of you and the entire team, you “think” Indians played good cricket? I don’t know whether to jump off a cliff or shoot myself.
*

  • “We put up a good total”.
  • “I thought 288 was a good total.”*

Ah, another convenience. The actual article mentions absolutely nothing about Inzamam even dropping a pint of praise for Shoaib Malik. Of course, Inzamam’s “sizeable” contributions in both games immensely helped us, didn’t it? That “good total” would be nothing had it not clicked with Malik, in back-to-back matches. Convenient to go about praising the total and not even pointing at the direction as to where the runs came from.

Bottom line, I am heavily banking, as usual, on Inzamam to deliver a good strategic display of cricket, because at the end of the day, not only the individual performances will come under an inspection, but the decisions that will be made throughout the game will be under heavy observation as well. Up until now, Inzamam has accomplished next to nothing in the cricketing knowledge, and even though we have been winning matches as a strong unit, his mindset is completely and utterly off-scale and tipped off to the side. Constant mistakes, instead of being avoided the second time around, are being made like white on rice.

Inzamam and Co. better deliver. Moreover, Inzamam better straighten himself. If any such riduculous and foolish decision(s) coming straight from the head of captain is going to result in Pakistan losing the match, I will publicly hang Inzamam!

How am I planning to do that? I sure hope we don’t get to find out.

Got it. Its 11am Local time.:)

Re: 4th ODI Pak- Ind Feb 16 - Multan D/N (Afridi out) -- All merged

One thing I do not understand is what is the point in having the match start at 11 AM instead of 9:30 AM (Local time).

I mean it is neither a real D/N match nor a DAY match.

If there is the dew factor in the evening, why not just have a DAY match. I mean - what exactly is gained by having the match start at 11 AM. Did they want to give the players one more hour to sleep.

Inzamam was asked this question in one of the recent interviews, and he mentioned that since the match is scheduled on a normal business day, quite a chunk of people will have the time on their hands to come and watch after the conclusion of their workday. However, I fail to see his point, since it is of no wonder (and along the lines of people paying for their tickets via their hard-earned money and not getting entry into the stadiums) the problems that they will have to deal with during rush hours. Long tiring lines, picking a fight and hassling with army rangers, and then perhaps deciding to either go home or shoot themselves in the head after all this rubbish via the coin toss.

Sachin Tendulkar's 95, was the 10th time when master blaster was dismissed in the 90s, the most by any batsman in the history of one-day cricket

Indian players gain popularity in Pak
Swati Maheshwari

Wednesday, February 15, 2006 (Lahore):

There was a time when all the good lookers were only in the Pakistani cricket team. But clearly things have changed now, as a snap poll conducted by NDTV revealed.

Pakistani women have clearly had a good look at the Indians cricketers this time.

“Irfan Pathan is good looking. He is a Khan. I am a Pathan too. He is really good looking among all of them, really cute. The rest of them are also pretty okay,” said one Pakistani woman.

“Rahul Dravid is very decent, Irfan Pathan bowls very well, which adds up to his personality. Sachin is an amazing batsman, and Zaheer is a good bowler,” said another.

Off the field popularity

While Sachin and Dravid remain all time favourites, Pakistani women clearly admire Zaheer Khan and Irfan Pathan for more than just their bowling.

“Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan, these three are the best. First thing is that they are really good looking and they play really well,” said a Pakistani fan.

The Indian cricketers are riding high after a 2-1 lead in the one-day series in Pakistan.

But with their growing popularity off the field, it seems that they have yet another reason to be happy.
