Farhat
Malik
Faisal
Younis
MoYo
Inzi
Akmal
Razzaq
Sami
Gul
Asif
Yasir Arafat (super-sub)
Since youngsters are showing courage to face new ball, I will send the Buddhays down the order asking them to beat the hell out of the 25 overs old ball, IF they can. Malik has faced First over ball in last ODI and as early as 5th over in other two, and has emerged as the best batsman from current squad. Two times batting first he hit 90 and 100 + unlike second innings prince, Butt.
We need to bring Yasir Arafat for bowling if Gul gets hit as usual. And I agree, Rana needs a break from ODIs for now. This should also be the last chance for MoYo, he must not play in Karachi ODI and should be dropped from SL tour as well, if he didn't play well today. He is terribly out of form when it comes to under pressure limited over cricket. I am saying this despite of my liking of his style and anchorship he shows in tests.
Akhtar’s bear-hug cost Afridi dearly
By a Correspondent
Lahore, February 14, 2006
A friendly hug from teammate Shoaib Akhtar was the reason behind Shahid Afridi’s rib injury and the ensuing bouts of vomiting, which ruled him out of the last two matches of the ongoing ODI series against India.
“The problem started when during a practice session Shoaib Akhtar playfully held him tightly around the ribs and lifted him up. Apparently, the rib-cage area has been damaged which could be the reason for Afridi having the vomiting bouts”, a local newspaper here said quoting a team official.
The official said the management was fully aware of his condition but still sent him to open the innings with Salman Butt in the third ODI. Experimentation is fine but sending an injured is just not done specially after knowing that Afridi was not feeling well", the official added.

At this stage with a match under, I for one can not imagin Pakistan resuming with experiments. They must resort to conventional openers and Inzimam should be coming at one down position to improve/recapture his agility.
In short the batting order at top is fine with Butt/Farhat & Shoaib Malik, its the middle order that seems to be now crowded with out-of-form players.
Rana should be benched and Sami be given the new ball with Asif and Razzak.
However I don't see Rana on the bench because of Afrid's leave.
Or just, may be just taht Woolmer might opt for Yasir instead of Rana ?
Re: 4th ODI Pak- Ind Feb 16 - Multan D/N (Afridi out) -- All merged
I'd rather look at it this way. What do we have here......A consistency in belter pitches, spinners being hammered almost more than fast bowlers so far during the series -
1) First ODI's Highest Bowling Average (Spin) = (11 - Sehwag, 10.5 - Malik, Murali Karthik coming very close to SreeSanth's RPO as well)
2) Second ODI's Highest Bowling Average (Spin) = (8.5 - Afridi)
3) Third ODI's Highest Bowling Average (Spin) = (8.0 - Afridi)
And batsmen being heavily relied on througbout the duration of the game from both sides of the fence. Considering these factors, we can factor Danish out of the equation (Terrible fielder + batter). I am also not in favor of bringing in Sami (give Rana a chance, for pete's sake. It is about time we are completely done giving chances to Sami, unless otherwise). A batter at this point in time will suit perfectly in these conditions. Two options in that corner: Imran Farhat or Faisal Iqbal. I would opt for the latter.

Nahi dhobi ! :nono:
Like I say ‘Statistics don’t aag’jactly tell the true story’ likewise we should be replacing a bowler with a bowler as we have to account for 10 overs each from an authentic bowler or the wicket-taker if you may.
Batters are not needed but mid order batting order needs re-shuffling ofcourse.
Plus it is becoming very stretegic to use your trickiest bowler during the “power-play” sessions to maximize your wicket taking chances. Keun ?
Re: 4th ODI Pak- Ind Feb 16 - Multan D/N (Afridi out) -- All merged
Yes, you are right, of course. Similar would be to take a huge gamble on our hands, but knowing chachu Inzamam and his "creative" thinking, I don't think he will implement such a decision.
But yes, I would prefer Danish over Taaya Arshad any day.
Re: 4th ODI Pak- Ind Feb 16 - Multan D/N (Afridi out) -- All merged
Good thread started..
Well, I would add one thing that Pakistan is composed of some true match winners but they are not being utilized rightly. Afridi is injured so he's out. So, we should bring Imran Farhat for him to replace Afridi and if Farhat gets in, let Kamran Akmal play down the order and no more shuffling. If Farhat doesn't get a chance, then Kamran Akmal should open with Butt and I really hope that Butt doesn't make the same stupid mistakes as he did in 2nd and 3rd ODI.
Something we lacked in all ODIs was sheer pace and I am very happy to know that Mohammad Sami has been added in the team and InshAllah Pak will bounce back. All we need is a little luck and Inzi needs to use his brain a little more while the Pakistani team is on the field. Well, that's it from me guys and lets see what goes on in Multan...

Inzamam docked for slow over-rate
Cricinfo staff
February 14, 2006
Inzamam-ul-Haq, the Pakistan captain, has been fined 10% of his match fees for a slow over-rate during the third ODI against India. The rest of the team was fined 5%.
Pakistan bowled one over less in the stipulated time during their loss to India at Lahore. The Indians were pulled up for the same offence after the first game at Peshawar that Pakistan won by seven runs.
India lead the five-match series 2-1 going into the fourth ODI at Multan on Thursday.
