Game will start at 8:55 pm local time. 36 overs. The target should be 220, according to D/L.

Sehwag got the record for fastest ODI 100 by an Indian. great batting.

Re: 4th ODI: New Zealand v India at Hamilton

Sehwag went berserk. Unfortunately NZ were on the receiving end.

Re: 4th ODI: New Zealand v India at Hamilton

India won the match for 84 runs and the Series by 3-0

India were 201/0 23.0 overs when the rain interrupted the match, and By D/L method India won the match.

This is the best Indian Team ever ! what you guys thinks ?

^ shak ki koi gunjaish nahi

I will believe that once they win the World Cup. For now, the 1983 WC winning team is still the best, IMHO :p

Re: 4th ODI: New Zealand v India at Hamilton

^ I do not agree.

India's 1983 World Cup victory should go down as one of the biggest FLUKES in Cricket history.

Unlike the current Indian team which has been having a string of successes against multiple teams - the 1983 outfit went into the World Cup after the West Indies tour where India were roundly beaten. Also, immediately after the World Cup, the same West Indies toured India and defeated the so-called "World Champions" 5-0 in ODIs and 3-0 in Tests.

To be honest, only 'Kapil Dev' from that 1983 ODI team could qualify as a real ODI player today. Srikkanth was crap if you compare him with today's Yuvraj Singh, Sehwag, Gambhir etc. He didn't have much of a technique or any great variety of shots. Gavaskar was never an ODI player. Other guys like - Yashpal Sharma, Mohinder Amarnath, Sandeep Patil, Madan Lal, Roger Binny and even Ravi Shastri were never consistent performers. For all the sermon he gives from the commentary box today, Shastri was a laggard on the field, known for half-dives.

In the 1983 WC finals, India set a target of a paltry 183 runes in 60 Overs. The West Indies batting comprising of such stars like Vivian Richards, Greenidge, Clive Lloyd, Dujon etc all had a rare off day which handed India the World Cup. I am not saying that India did not do well to reach the finals- but I still feel that India got great help from a perfect planetary alignment in that WC.

Finally, about the WC format itself - I do not believe in an ODI tournament (much less Twenty20) to determine the best team in the World. Unless you are 'head and shoulders' above other teams (like Australia were in the past few years) - there is ample room for "fluke" defeats. For example, we saw Kenya reach the semi-finals in one of the recent WC. Bangladesh & Ireland got into the Super 8 in the last one.

So, regardless of how well the current Indian team is playing, I am not hoding my breath for them to win the next World Cup.

It has been a pleasure watching Raina, Sehwag and Yuvraj bat in New Zealand. They have butchered the kiwi attack and made it look like a doddle.
