Well there it is, a 3rd consecutive humiliating defeat. Don't let the scorecards of the 3 games fool you, none of the games were even close. In fact even more disappointing than the defeats was they way we lost. We had lost the last ODI series at home against India as well, but at least we had put up some fight. This series was given away without any semblance of spine or fight.
Pakistan lost all 3 games within the first hour, losing early wickets consistently on flat batting wickets. The fact that our bowlers were hammered as well was just insult to injury.
The script in all 3 matches has been the same, the only difference is the varying degrees of embarrassment. The fact that Inzi and the team management had scoffed arrogantly at any criticsm of the team has now come back to haunt them. Public reactions work both ways. While the Indians learned from their mistakes and got better game by game, the Pakistanis stubbornly persisted with negative and defensive tactics.
Congrats to the Indians, but I will say this, Pakistan lost the series more than India have won it by poor captaincy, batting, bowling and fielding. Remember, we had this same Indian team on the mat after the test series and the first ODI.
I hope Inzi and co. take responsibility for this defeat and plan on taking some actions to prevent such mishaps in the future. They ignored the 2 previous defeats but this time they should sit up and take notice. If you are willing to take all the credit for previous victories and recieve many public accolades, parades etc. then be prepared for harsh words when you lose. With the World Cup around the corner we cannot afford to brush this under the carpet and rest on our past victories.
